How are you feeling?

My new neighbor just pretty much invited himself round for a cup of tea. He's completely new to the area and the university so I'm pretty sure the purpose of his visit was to make a friend and find out more about the city (where to drink, what to do etc) but I couldn't offer him either. It took him about three minutes to realize how much of a social failure I was before getting the hell out of my flat.

The most depressing part of our conversation...

Neighbor: So, have you got any friends here?

Me: ….........No.

Please, somebody kill me.

Well you need to elaborate a bit more when you speak to people.

"Where are you from ?" "Why did you move here?" "What's your major?" "Do you miss your family ?". It doesn't need to be genius questions but it sounds like a man who loves to talk, so ask him some questions and give him the opportunity to find out that you're a nice person and a good listener.

And your answer:
"Do you have any friends here ?"

You: "Well I think people are very nice here, but we don't really share the same interest, I like bla bla bla, and they like bla bla bla" and so on.

Just try practicing that for yourself. I did that for many, many years and I learned alot from just watching TV! :D

I just think I need to take some time away from the computer for a while. I come here way too much and that makes me very sad that it's gotten this bad.

Time taken is best served away from a computer. The forum is easy in bringing you down a bit but I certainly hope that things go better for you, dear.

Almost always, after a talk, I feel I've screwed something up. I need to change that...

Hah good luck, I didn't manage that myself :D. But you have no reason to be ashamed, I really like your posts, you're very thoughtful and understanding. The thing is, there will always be someone who doesn't agree and this can hurt, so it takes courage to say what we think... the other option is just say nothing...

Homacidal to the max!!!

*Housemate walks in while I'm in the kitchen*
Me: Hi. (slipped out even tho i didnt want to say it.)
Housemate: When are you going to give me the money for the cleaning stuff?
Me: Tomorrow when I get my dole.
*Housemate walks straight out the door*
Me: (under my breath) Is that all she f*cking came into the kitchen for?!
*I stare at the door with a look that I wish could kill*
*Housemate returns straight away*
Housemate: Will you vacuum the stairs?
Me: I already did.... *waiting for a patronising comment*
Housemate: Really?!
Me: Yeah.
Housemate: When?
Me: A few days ago...
Housemate: You didn't do it properly.
Me: Looks fine to me!
Housemate: Yeah, well... You'll have to do it again - its not good enough.
*Housemate goes out and starts sweeping the stairs as if shes trying to prove something. I stay in the kitchen until she's gone.*
