How are you feeling?

If it makes you feel any better, I have a fear of starting threads.
^ As do I. I can usually post here like crazy without a problem, although I do have some days where I can't bring myself to say much. Starting a thread though? Forget it.

Heh, yeah. I guess we share the same issue. I think I'm scared of them being unpopular. ::p:

^ Not sure what you have to worry about, Mikey. You're a pretty popular guy around these parts! My fear is just being the center of attention. Not for me.

Thanks, but I hope not. :) Yeah, I know what you mean there - one reason I will never start a journal thread!

Just take it steady. You don't have to message everyone at once. Just one or two people you trust, and take it from there. Face-to-face is very different to here, though, so you can't compare the two. If you like, though, you can send me a message at any point for practice.

.

I have a problem approaching people, being forever worried I'm annoying some poor soul who wants to be left alone. So while the two are quite different, I can't help but look at as if I'm scared of messaging people here, how could I possibly do so anywhere else? Logic never has been on my side
I'm certain that any thread you start would definitely get many responses.

I have the same fear, Mikey. Experience has taught me that no one can relate to or care about what I have to say.
That's not true! I reckon lots of people would care.

You never know, really. Approaching people randomly is difficult and even I couldn't do that most of the time.

Haha, thanks for your confidence. :)

I'm not pleased that I am getting to bed much later than I did the last few days.

A migraine forced me into bed with some Nyquil around 8 one night (after only having been up for 5 hours), and the next morning I woke up at 4 and couldn't go back to sleep, so I was up for the day, and the rest of the day turned out to be pretty busy so when I got home I was tired around 7. I got to bed around 9, but I ended up sleeping 14 hours! I woke up this morning at 11. I don't know why I slept so long.

So now I've only been up since 11 am and I didn't go outside at all. Later wakeup time + no exposure to sunlight + not much energy spent = not sleepy around 10, my ideal bedtime.

-----> tl;dr: I'm getting to bed around 1 am today and I am not a happy camper  My own fault, but it sucks to not be tired.

not really pleased. waited all day for phone call back from job interview place, and there's only 1 phone in the house. So I saw the number come up on the TV, and I ran for it, but missed. No message left and no call backs and did not have the guts to call back the store front (the number he called me on was private, so i would have to call the customer service, ask for him, it was intimidating..) raagg woops oohps... guess I can hope that he calls back or call tomorrow

Last time I did that I was very sick. Don't remember any other time I slept so long. Your body must've needed it.

It's like a game of torture, isn't it? I hope they call back tomorrow.

I feel upset at myself. I know I've been feeding others attempts at hurting me. As the saying goes "my fear is their greatest weapon".

People would care about what you have to say.
Your friendliness is also noticed.

Thanks, Mikey and Nathália, but I don't know. I often feel like I'm too old and out of touch to fit in here, that I come across as too stuffy or pretentious, so no one bothers to read my comments. Maybe I'm wrong. It could be just the depression talking. It does that.

Still feeling pretty awful today, and incredibly tired. It's also really rainy and dark, which just makes my mood worse. I love cloudy days, but as soon as it rains, it depresses me. Not sure why, always has though. I wish I stayed home today and just slept in. I didn't want to miss lab though because we only get one free lab to miss that won't affect our grade. Our winter is probably going to be really harsh, so I'm trying to save that "free lab" for a day where I can't even leave the house because the weather is so bad.

Just need to suck it up and carry on.

I'm feeling the same. Stay strong Phoenixx, I hope you feel better real soon.

What's wrong?

hey sri. i guess i'm just upset about the fact that my fear of being around people, was so obvious that those very people pounced on it and used to it to my disadvantage. if i could go back in time, i would never show anyone my weak side, as people only prey on the weak.

I feel depressed. I moved to Germany for a semester, I've been here for more than two weeks and I'm always alone, today I wanted to go to university to talk with a professor and my erasmus coordinator, but when I arrived, I saw a lot of students and I started panicking so I went back home.
I also found a flier in the elevator, there was written "don't be shy, make a lot of friends", this made me feel worse.

I don't know if this can help you, but me, personally, when I am far away from home, I just tell myself that I will probably never see all these people around me ever again once I go back home. This way, I don't have to be so self-conscious all the time. Sure, I still worry about not looking bad, but it does help relieve the stress a little bit.

Hope this can help, you should really try enjoying your time in Germany :)

Thanks, it's not easy but what you said can help :)
It was a big step for me to decide to spend a semester abroad, I don't want my anxiety to ruin my stay here, I'll try my best to have positive experiences :)
