How are you feeling?

I survived the bridal shower! Now they want to do a bachelorette party. And then a wedding! God damn, give an anxious girl a break. ;)

My eye is sore, becuase I got a Wii remote in the eye. Went to the hospital, and the doctors took care of it, even gave me back my (literally) bloody Wii remote too...

Imagine seeing someone driving down the road with a Wii remote sticking out of their eye...

I'm lonely and tired.

OUCH! Do I even want to ask how you did that? I'm having sympathy pains for you, my friend. I suddenly have a terrible headache and shooting pains in my left eye.

This forum needs more controversy. I am bored with such 'nice' topics - bring on the heated emotional debates, the opposing contrasting opinions. Bring on the "life is what you make of it" threads where I can disagree with everyone vehemently. Give me some anguish to feed on. Om nom nom nom...

Where is Mikey? Eh? Eh? He hasnt been on for a few days.... it's like he has a life or something.

Controversial topics or heated debates have no chance of survival here, because they get deleted by the mods. Only the boring and "nice" ones are left.

I like to debate, but a lot of times (I mean in general, not here) some people simply end up insulting those who don't think like them, so it's hard to have a conversation :p

And btw I'm bored too, and lonely :/

Personally, I hate debates! they make me very anxious... But at the same time, I can't help getting drawn into them... I've had more than one panic attack due to my involvement in online debates. *Sigh*

Incorrect, they only get deleted when people think a difference of opinion is a personal attack and a flame war ensues. The mods are not the bad guys here, it is those people who cannot who cannot show respect when debating and resort to insults (12 year old behaviour). We don't want nor does the webmaster want, this place to descend into a youtube type debating place. First and foremost it has to be a support site.

I did ask for a 'basement' type place where there could be a separate part of the forum for more adult (not pervy) debate. The webmaster refused this request as it may upset advertisers, so there you have it, I tried.

e.g.:

SAUK basement said:
Forum for discussion of more contentious or controversial topics, for example, politics, current affairs, sex (non-gratuitous), and religion. You must be registered and logged in to view this forum and you must have read and agree to abide by the guidelines to post here

SAUK is funded by the members, I also asked if we could do this to have more freedom, the webmaster also disagreed, so if you all want to moan at someone, take it up with the organ grinder and not us monkeys. :)

That is true - Debates are OK, but unfortunately they lead to attacking. I get frustrated when someone cant understand where it is I am coming from (often because if people would just listen to me we would all be living in a perfect utopia) but I always (well at least I try to) not directly insult others whose opinion differs from my own. Obviously they are wrong of course - yet I still respect (begrudgingly) and accept that not all people are going to feel about certain things the way that I do (even though they should)

Allowing people to leave comments was one of the worst decisions YouTube made. If I want to listen to a favourite song of mine I don't want to read a bunch of haters' comments about that song
I don't even read them anymore.
If I'm watching a music video of a Queen song, to say something, I don't want to read how much you hate Justin Bieber -_-

But I think deleting threads like this doesn´t solve anything either, it only leaves people with unresolved and burried resentments, which they take out later somewhere else. Also, I saw many topics which weren´t offensive to me, but they were taken down. Like the last one where one woman got offended by the OP saying he is uncomfortable by some quiet ppl in the workplace. But he was just honest and not meant to offend anyone. He probably didn´t know it would be taken as offensive.

The basement would be a good idea, shame it got refused.

There are often comments you wont see that get deleted, so it can be difficult for regular users to judge what is going on when a thread flames up. If the thread does not reform after the initial flame and warnings given out and bickering continues (and gets deleted again) , we usually all agree to delete or close a thread. Often giving out infractions if people cannot be civil.

You have to ask yourselves, we are all adults here, why behave like a child if someone does not agree with you? Why carry on when a moderator warns you not to? We cannot put it down to mental illness as I'm a member of many different forums on the net and see this going on (and from grown men in their 40's!). For example, on SAUK I'm know for my left wing views and my campaigning for the rights of the disabled, equality, religious and racial tolerance, I'm passionate in my beliefs but I've never personally attacked anyone who opposes my views.

Even in SAUK's basement and all its freedoms they delete and remove topics which flare up, maybe you should create a forum for people with MH issues where they can heatedly row and insult one another? The mods here did not have a blank sheet to work with, we got told how this place should be run, I've managed to get a few concessions over the years and also blatantly refused to moderate 'suicide' cry for help threads. I'd rather let them be than delete them and told the webmaster to do it himself.

I feel like my heart has been ripped out and stomped on because....my computer totally utterly died. I lived and died by that thing. Looking on the bright side at least I still have my iPod Touch and the means, barely, to buy a new laptop.

I think we're pretty fair here, given the nature of the forum and the fact that people have enough anxieties as it is, we don't really want to be taking chances. Of course, this is just my opinion - feel free to debate it ::p:

I find it funny how YouTube comments have become like the pinnacle example of judgment, ignorance and illiteracy. And it being completely true also. ::p:

I think if they made an effort in making the commenting system a little more streamlined and optimal for communicating, the hate fest would be a lot less. As is there's really no need to say anything there, since it's all so short and messy. Perfect breeding ground for trolls and bigots.

Since I don't remember it always being this bad...
