I don't mind hybrids, but I sure can't stand SUV's. Mostly because if one hits me, I'm guaranteed to die.

2 and 3 should just be cut right out of that list, ha.. plenty of things people do daily could be dangerous....

and anyway, i love driving.. my car gets 40 mpg so gas may be pricey, but i don't have to buy it often :)

besides the fact that it's not exactly safe for people to just 'walk' everywhere where i live, you'd probably get picked up and shot or something, haha... i know in many cities and places out of the US people can just walk everywhere daily.. i can't imagine that, i'd be walking 10-20 miles just to go to the store or something!

I can't survive without a car...even when I lived in nYC! Imagine carrying 10 bags of groceries in the subway. Imagine waiting for 30 minutes for the train after partying til 4am in Manhattan. With a car, you can go and come when you want. You can listen to your music and be around people you choose. It's worth it to have a car!

The OP won't like this. ;) My summer situation of living a twenty minute drive outside the nearest town wasn't considered valid even when examining the case of groceries. I have to say though, driving in NYC seemed to take a lot more time than using the subway. Same goes for Toronto. The cities are so congested. :(

nice Fairlady Z, Ignace! Just not feeling the wheels but it's still a Z. Is it twin-turbo?

Katie, I would've bought an S2000 but the Miata was a steal for $4,000 with 70k miles. Plus it's 600lbs lighter than an S2000 since I gutted the heck out of it, and after I finish buying the turbo parts I need, I'll be making about 250hp at the wheels, and the S2K makes like 210 at the wheels :) buuuuut the S2000 has a higher top speed :p

I love cars. lol. Don't get an X5. SUV's are so pointless and I'm convinced I will die getting hit by one someday. Get a wagon or hatchback if you feel that you need a big, huge, monstrous vehicle. They can swallow as much stuff if you do research, and they won't rollover on you when you take a turn a little too fast. And most importantly they won't get less than 20mpg.

Post pics of your dad's S2K :)

Yeah Z32 Twin-Turbo from 1996. Althrough it's one of the youngest, it's pretty old. It's a V6 with 318 PK, which is 313 HP I think.

I was a Honda guy from the day I got my license, until my last car was stolen. After that I said no more...

Just because I love car threads, here's pics of my last 2 Honda's lol

can you tell I love black and green? lol. That car was totaled last year by a 17 year old noob girl driving her mom's Hyundai Elantra. I screamed and cursed nonstop the whole time dealing with the cops and stuff lol.

Hondas = bad luck. Had to move on.

edit: Z32 ftw, Ignace! One of my favorite cars of all time. Bring back the 90s. Cars of today are such hogwash. I hate the new Z's. They do nothing for me emotionally.

Those Honda's are nice.:D Damn car thieves ! U had insurance for it ?
I like the black-green combo.:)
What about that Honda Fit, you had money from the daughter/mother, right ?
The 300's are the best of the Z-serie.:D The 350Z brakes down way easier. It's profit for the brand and the garages, but not fun for the owners. I dno how the 370Z performs, but I like it's looks way more than the 350. Only trouble he had in all those years were the normal things like, tires and stuff, but other then that only the batteries broke down. After 2-3 weeks without starting the battery's already dead. I hope one of the next Z's is back like the 300-style. Now in these times they all need to look so ... not flat.::(:

Yes, you can say the same about virtually everything people do. However, the fact is that it wouldn't carry the same weight: driving is disportionly risky behavior, when you look up the statistics.

I agree! I don't plan to be a hypocrite, cars are the evil of movement. I wish we could back to the times where destinations meant something by the amount of effort it would take to trudge there. If you were going on a vacation to the Grand Canyon and you had to walk across a state, it would mean a lot more than driving there. Traveling the land can have a lot more satisfaction.. And when people travel by car to see nature? How is it not painful for them to know that they are helping poison the same thing they are cherishing, as they drive? Busses and bikes, or better yet, foot!

^ you should play Red Dead Redemption. That's how people got around and lived just one century ago. Mind-blowingly cool.

I hate driving. I wish I lived in the city so I could walk or ride a bicycle, but unfortunately I have to drive miles and miles just to go to town. I think cars are made to suck money out of hard working people. They are designed to break down and to run on expensive fuel. It's a conspiracy. People don't think about the fact that they are traveling at high speeds inside of a machine hoping they do not collide with something. There really needs to be a change, I think it is about time humanity look for some other form of major transportation.
