Did You Ever Think...

You might have been happier in the countryside?

Running your own small farm, and then hiring some staff later on, and getting on OK together?

Happier in the countryside, absolutely.

Happier in the countryside while trying to grow things?. Not so much. Unfortunately everything green that i touch withers, lol. My wife wont let me near her plants.

I know im way happier in the country, the smells, the fresh air, nature. I find i think alot better and my anxiety is way less. Unfortunately, do to my career path, its not likely that i'll ever live out of the city :(

To be honest with you, I have thought about this. I compiled a list of as many different ideas as possible in terms of changing my environment. I even considered life in the Sahara and Alaska! I think I could do living on a farm, but the financial ails of farming in this country put me off really taking it seriously. Back home in South Africa white farmers are targetted heavily in the ANC's ethnic cleansing program.

What are you talking about? I really don't know anything about South Africa. LOL. I am a self Centered American. What is the ANC? And since when are whites targeted for ethnic cleansing?

As for the original question.... Yes, yes and yes!!!!!! I would love that. Like with two or three other families. :D:D

Sometimes I do but I don´t seem to have the ability to root myself anywhere and in anything. My fault probably or I don´t know..

I grew up in the country-- always wanted to be in the city; even being agoraphobic.
I'm allergic to the sun.
I'm frail.
I'm not really an ourdoorsy person~ haha
But I do wish people grew more of their own food and actually worked to earn their keep. There'd be less spoiled brats in the world.

Fantasizing about how your life 'could've been' or could be is nice sometimes. Just don't drive yourself crazy obsessing about it.
If it's something you'd like to do then perhaps that could be something to work towards?

I've never lived in the countryside, but I can only imagine how lovely it must be. All that open space, fresh air, and less amount of people around. My kind of place.

Funny you ask this, as that's exactly what my parents did. We moved out of the city when I was 8 and now I live in the middle of nowhere. I do love the solitude and the air is nice, and local produce is great! But other than that I really don't like it much at all. It's boring to me since I'm not much of an outdoors-y person, stores and things are too far away, and it can be kinda lonely.

I'd quite like to live on a boat, with sails, at sea, somewhere, maybe near an island... with crops and cattle, as long there is trustworthy wi-fi, and eBay, and able to sail over and pick up goods in person

I already live on the countryside, on an old farm, and I love it. I love nature and animals. :D I'm planning to get this place up and running somewhere in the future, if I can get the money to do so. Even though I'd still have to deal with people, at least I might be able to make my own money - instead of going to work everyday at a store or something...

I quite like city living, with shopping easily accessible. I just wish I was more outgoing to enjoy it. But I would still love if there's a place where can be arrived just some one hour away for hiking and fresh air. I live in a humid climate with little vast space so this is not possible, I have holidayed at a place that does though, and would love if I actually lived in such an environment.

I've always lived in the country, since my father feels that nearby neighbors will eventually be a headache. Sixteen acres in upstate NY and now 40 acres in VA. It's great to have no one around and the woods about 30 seconds away. Mountain views, open fields.

My enthusiasm doesn't extend to milking cows at 5 AM or sitting in a deer stand for hours just so I can shoot and gut a deer, though.

I often fantasize about it, just getting out of the suburbs and not have to worry about people watching me when i go to check the mailbox. it's just sort of day dreaming though, country isnt very practical when i'd have to keep travelling to the city to see doctors

Not really. I feel like I'd be even more bored out of my mind if I was in a place where there was even less to do. That might not make much of a difference though. If all I do is stay inside, anywhere would be the same to me.

countryside, yes

farm, no

i like the wilds, the boonies

farms are manmade places, but without people - and they require order, discipline, hard work - definitely not for me

i like being out in the wilderness, exploring, trekking, etc.

but I also like interacting with people
