Why do you even care what random trolls say? They are just saying those things for sport. They spout hatred all over the internet because they're not clever enough to think of anything else to do with their time.
You seem to get to a point where you have some self confidence. Get off of Facebook and sites like it, your self confidence (with effort) will come back.

Followers on Twitter..LOL. Who cares. Your main problem is that you don't like yourself. At any rate, don't waste your time on sites like those. You'll feel better.

Facebook and twitter are the worse possible things someone with SA could use. Don't use them and your life will be better. The people who use them are idiots anyway. It is suited for those who wanna brag about their boring lives but bullshit them out to be great. You need to deal with people at a face to face level .

I find it difficult to deal with people face to face but I know it's something that I have to perservere with.

And that's why I don't post photos of myself, I'm far too paranoid.

People are, by nature, complete ****s, most of them anyway, and the internet provided anonimity and no censorship to do this kind of stupid behavor. It's usually called GIFT. And while I don't believe in internet censorship, I do feel sometimes, some of it should be slightly legislated to control the ammount of complete utter imbeciles and trolls.

The internet has also harmed my self-esteem before, I can't count the ammount of times I've been insulted over my personal hobbies, or even within people with the same hobby as me insulting me over trivial stuff, as mentioned in the Gamers' thread ("dirty casual", "stupid console peasant" et al).

I eventually found a mantra I've followed since: "F*** it."

Facebook and Twitter are hives of idiocy, and there's no real privacy or much respect in the internet. I don't really go to my own Facebook much, which I had to make by force when I studied in the US, and I have a twitter account under a pseudonym for whenever I need it, which has been only once in many years. We're better off those sites, or making fake accounts at least if you like some aspects of the site.

Hi TheTimeLord, I know exactly how you feel. I know what it's like to wonder if everyone is thinking the same nasty things (such as "you're ugly") but not saying it. I wonder if this has something to do with social anxiety? Well I have given this some thought--I was thinking about it today believe it or not--and I have concluded that the people who DON'T say anything might be the best I can get. These people probably pride themselves in holding back their thoughts. Especially on the internet, where people say the vilest things. I too wish I didn't read half the crap I've read online, especially the racist nonsense. I'm very selective of what I read online now. I abandoned many sites, and I have a Firefox add-on that blocks comment sections. I never joined Twitter because I could tell it was a mess.

Are you saying people on here called you ugly? Wow, that's a bit shocking. Well you sound a bit angry, which is understandable. I've come to learn that some people are really clueless delusional about matters like these. In fact, don't be surprised if you are asked if you have an ugly soul which is why you've been called ugly. Humans I tell ya.

The internet is full of people who log on for the sole purpose of taking their real life frustrations out on others. People will call you ugly or look for flaws for the sheer thrill of inflicting pain. And if you show them that what they are saying is getting to you, guess what? They will increase their efforts and invite their friends to do the same! Take what is being said about you on Twitter with a grain of salt if you can. If you can't do that and, as you say, Twitter is ruining your self esteem then you have to pull yourself away from it at all costs. Whatever benefits it may have for you are not worth the effects it is having on you psychologically.

I once turned to the Internet chatroom to seek comfort from being fired from a job. People online made me feel even worse, especially the ones in chatrooms. All they ever talk about was sex and other related topics.

Now I know why I left this site. It's so damn depressing....

Eeh, I think it depends on one's own mental state at the moment and the threads lurked/browsed. I use to usually lurk more Offtopic threads and just try help when I feel like I can give some advice or legitimate opinion.

Thing is, my PC is my work tool, I rather save it's hard drive space on my work as a graphic designer and resources focused on the software I make a living with, and have my moded Wii as the dedicated multi-console machine for my leisure time.

I couldn't tell if you were kidding or serious, but my gut says you were joking. I still gave an honest answer to that gaming PC statement. =)

My advice is to stop putting pictures of yourself online and stop depending on others to tell you how you should feel about yourself.

And stop being mean.

I really don't understand this whole 'look at me' phenomenon, but if you don't like being judged by the way you look, then don't put yourself in that position. It really is that simple.

Give Facebook and Twitter the slip, hang around here instead, people are much nicer.

Sorry to disagree, but I've given up trying to make friends here because they keep trying to manipulate me. One never knows anymore who is nice and who is out to get you.

This too. I don't understand this either. What's the point of posting pictures of yourself for everyone to see? Some can see you're posting purposely to fish for compliments, because you're insecure and so on. They will make comments for the lulz to bring you down. People online can be a lot more aggressive than people offline because they are safely hidden behind a screen.
