Caffeine

Are any of you sensitive to caffeine?

What do you find aggravates your anxiety the most? Just coffee, or can tea have an affect on you? What about chocolate?

Just asking because I heard from a few people that most tea doesn't have enough caffeine to do much to you, but I had one cup of moderately strong tea and I feel really hyper. Kind of uncomfortably so. But now I'm having another one. Makes sense :idontknow:

No not really, though I've never really drank excessive amounts of coffee or tea. I don't see any difference in my anxiety when I consume caffeine, I actually kind of feel calmer when I drink tea.

My body does not tolerate coffee very well. Goes in through one end and right out the other. Elevates anxiety or causes hyperness, in addition to increased sweating.

Tea causes no such symptoms, and if chocolate did.. I wouldn't stop eating it.

I am caffeine intolerant. But i still drink coffee, but must limit it to a one-teaspoon cup per day. Not exactly sure why i drink it though. I think it calms my nerves in the morning or early afternoon, but then it does have its side-effects, like sweating, sore back, anxiety/aggravation, etc. I suppose if i could find something else which has similar benefits but without the side-effects, maybe i might switch to that .. but so far i haven't found anything else.

For above: Nice jug!

try drinking Herbal Teas and Rooibos Teas which are naturally caffeine free so try them instead of other teas and if you are sensitive to caffeine and a high anixity individal I would avoid coffe all together and choclate I would eat smalll amounts like not the whole bar just a quarter of it.

New to the forum (yay!) :)

Caffeine is a tough one... I NEED it to stay awake and alive, but at the same time it doubles my anxiety level..

No. I can drink a can of redbull right before going to bed, and it won't keep me up. Caffeine does nothing to me.

My third day without. My depression is bad tonight.

Caffeine does have withdrawl symptoms. I'd suggest having some to relax and gradually lower it.

Ok, I should ask why you stopped suddenly since you probably already know that. o_O

I used to drink a lot of caffeine and it wouldn't noticably affect me. Maybe I'd have a bit of trouble if I drank right before I slept.

Now that I'm off of it, a cup of tea will keep me up 8+ hours after I'm normally tired, and I'll become very hyper and jittery.

Depends on what levels your body is used to.

I hope you have better luck than I usually do, my symptoms can last longer than two weeks (which is usually my caving point). I'm always glad to see someone giving it up & being the better man when it comes to anxiety-inducing temptation. Good luck

I believe I've gotten too used to caffeine at this point. I don't get any bad symptoms except withdrawal when I don't have it.

I don't really drink caffeine these days. I do know coffee makes me sick though. Any amount really except for like a sip.

3 days without. My depression was bad last night. I went for a run this morning, and I feel better.

I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine, but only in that it can make me hyper. It doesn't seem to make my anxiety worse the way sugar does.

As far as giving it up? No way Jose. It keeps me from getting in a rut during the day and helps with my depression. I took Prozac for years and I never felt as good on it as I do after a cup of coffee.
