Hi, I've became a member today, and am already feeling hopeful, for the first time in a while. Didn't know a website like this existed, and think it's a great idea!
I've struggled with SP, I believe for most of my life, I was always a "shy" girl, and had difficulty making friends in new situations. My social phobia became a serious problem for me after a long distance move when I was 13. I don't think I ever recovered from that move and struggled through jr high and high school.
Sadly, I live a very isolated life, so afraid of rejection that I have quit trying. I have reached the point where I've had enough pain and want to live again! This is my first step to change, God willing I can!

Welcome, Ladies!

Oddly enough, I just got back from Colorado(Keystone area), and traveled through Idaho for the first time in November of last year. I've found this to be a great place to vent, give advice, gain info, and get feedback/advice, for the most part.

Hello all!

I almost forgot to introduce myself. I am a 20 year old girl living in Oregon. I don't need medication or anything (I'm pretty much self-diagnosed) but I'm not the only one in my family with a tendency towards unsocialness.

I'm really glad this website exists! It's nice to see people struggling with similar problems (though I'm not going to even pretend that I have the worst of it).

I hope to get to know you all better!

Hey, new here. Have struggled with SA all my life. Am 20 years old and in college now, in Massachusetts, USA. Struggle with depression and anxiety, too. My SA has gotten better but I have a really hard time being myself, especially with certain people, and I have a hellish time trying to stand up for myself or dealing with confrontation.

Anyway, hope to get to know you all. Cheers.

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here. Everyone always said I've been a shy guy most of my life. Quite a lot of the time, especially at my job, no one ever really notices me. That's why I chose "Mr. Snuffleupagus" as my username. For those of you who remember, Snuffy was thought to be "imaginary" by several people. He wasn't, of course, he just had bad timing and he himself, I think was a little shy.

So anyway, yeah, I've had SA most of my life, although, somehow, I got a fiancee. I was so tired of being lonely, I decided to start dating. After quite a few clunker dates, I finally found my dream girl. So those with SA, please don't give up on finding the one for you, if that is your wish.

I still struggle with SA daily, though. I'm scared to death of crowds, parties most of all, but that's another topic.

Anyway, hi everyone.

Hi Snuffie.

On a side note, I learned a few years ago that Sesame Street decided to have an episode where everyone acknowledged that Snuffie exists. I guess they thought it would be a bad example for kids who had been abused and were keeping it a secret thinking no one would believe them.

Yeah, I read about that a while back, too. I also think it had something to do with they were running out of ideas to have the grown ups "just miss him".

And yes, if anyone wants to call me Snuffy around here, that's just fine. :)

Cool. I'd have you call me "Bird", but that would be downright weird. :D
