Generally, it is definitely true that it doesn't take much to send a person flying on the soccer pitch. That's why I thought it was harsh to call most of these players acting. But in this world cup, some of the games... yeah there's some acting involved. The Suarez handball though... no acting about that at all. Nothing subtle about it either.

If I recall, he used both hands to deflect the ball, not just one. The bigger disappointment in my opinion is the finals. It's almost more like rugby than soccer. Very rough play indeed. No room for the faint of heart there. hahaha...

The prostitute stereotype bothers me because every decrepit old white guy seems to think I'll be interested in them. I don't mean that to be racist, but the majority of men who are old enough to be my grandfather, who seem to think that I'm going to be interested in them, happen to be old Caucasian males. Sure, there are older men who still look good for their age, but not the ones who leer at me. I'm not a gold digger, a mail-order bride, and I'm not a hooker, and for the hundreth time...I'm not from Thailand! lol

Hey man... I've watched some of the games I've missed or at least read up on them... seems that you had a good point. There are some incidences of cheating. Just a coincidence that they were the ones that I missed. I did watch Suarez's handball though haha...

I can't say that I haven't gotten a lot of love from Italians while I was growing up. In fact, they gave me a lot of love and acceptance. It didn't matter to most of them what I looked like.

You probably don't remember much of Korea since you were very young when you left there. How have your experiences been growing up in the US?

From what I know, Asians aren't represented in the media as the other minorities or ethnicities are. I'm not mad about that, but I have noticed. If they are, then they're portrayed as martial artists or gangsters and the women are prostitutes (this one gets on my nerves).

Though, I think one of the reasons for this under representation is that Asians don't make waves in the US. They are as educated as whites (sometimse more), they consume as much as whites and are mostly law abiding citizens. What is also important is that Asians seem to be able to conform to American society even if many still hold on to their language, traditions and cultures.
