  • Well I am an ecologist so it is literally my job to be able to identify them all :p i do fine with plants, reptiles, bats, mammals but birds just all look and sound the same to me! I live in constant fear of being asked to do a bird survey and being found out :p

I like scabious, they are so pretty and pastel coloured. How about you?
Hi :) I really like plants too, I like to go out botanising sometimes. Birds though......I am not so keen on them, they are really hard to identify! Do you have any tips? Kayaking is great fun although I don't get out as much as I would like, I am going to try a bit more this year.
I love listening to those instruments too. I used to take piano lessons a few years ago, but couldn't get over my anxiety with my piano teacher. I would really love to play again, though.
That's so awesome! I've as always wanted to have my own garden! I'm really into the whole buy local organic thing. Even though I am a social pariah, I like learning about people. I feel like you can learn a lot from others and their different perspectives. I am presently working on starting an online business with my mom and attending college in the fall for computers. I really want to be a musician, though. I recently saw a psychic who said I need to follow my heart in my career and my heart is in music. I wanna be an artist too. I want to draw and paint my ideas. I would really like to expand my mind as well. I'm really interested in learning about the universe, astrology, psychics, ghosts, aliens etc. I find it to be very interesting.
    Hiya mate

Sorry, ah didnae respond yesterday, I decided to get out the house for a while went for a walk, then remembered I had a ticket for a stand-up comedy show - so went out and had a good laugh.

Anyway, I don't know if I should open up to you about my issues, since it doesnae really make for happy reading. Not sayin' I'm uncomfortable, I just don't want ye feelin' like shite.
Thank you, you're interesting too :). I think anyone who is into music has fantasized about being in a famous band- I know I still do lol. I would really like to learn a variety of instruments and write my own music. I can write things in my head and hear it being played, but I don't have the talent to play it. My ex boyfriend is a really gifted guitarist, I should have learned from him when I had the chance lol. I actually miss helping him write music, it was fun. I can agree with you on some of those bad band names.
I know it's a change of subject, but What do you want to do with your life?
And, since you mentioned it, I'm also a big fan of Alan Partridge. Haven't seen Alan Patridge: Alpha Papa in awhile. Though, I did go and see during its cinema release. Needless to say I had to keep myself from laughing out loud during a few moments, the boardroom scene comes to mind.
Lately... Not great. Depressed, anxious, unsure. Not sure what to do with my life. Plus, I'm having some personal issues with my family. Just unresolved stuff from the past - like my mum blaming me for how she treated me during adolescents.

Or how I feel my mum undermined my occupational therapist's attempts to get me living as independently as possible over the last 12 years by totally disregarding my OT's advice after every house visit - even though I was open to her suggestions about independent living.

It's just... I've spent most my life tryin' to cope with my physically disability, while at the same, not wanting to be overly dependent upon others way too much cuz I feel like a bit of burden whenever I have rely on others. Yet I feel my family have done just that by insisting on doing everything for me - despite me not asking them to do so. Which, according to my oldest sister, makes me ungrateful. Sorry, I don't mean to rant and burden you with my issues.
I like those lyrics too. A concept album is an album expressing one theme or idea. Some of the worst band names I have heard are mostly pop groups and rappers lol. Although, my bestfriend in middle school and I were going to start a band called Tender Fury lol. Sounds like a 1970's porn, if you ask me. We definitely had differing tastes in music. I really enjoy screaming in vocals, but I can understand how you feel. It reminds me of how I feel about Dragonforce (power metal). I love their music, but the vocals are such a turn off for me. You always ask really interesting questions- I appreciate that about you. What are some of your best and worst band names?
Those are some pretty good lyrics. I can't say that I have any favorite song writers. Honestly I am more into the music itself. Although, I do really love concept albums. There's a band called Between The Buried And Me (probably too heavy for you) and their most recent album is a concept album and it's about a man who is experiencing all of these past lives, but he's actually just in a coma. It's suppose to be like a coma within a coma (like the movie Inception). I'm really interested to hear the whole album. There's also another band (again, probably too heavy for you lol) named The Faceless who wrote a concept album about an alien invasion. I thought it was pretty cool.
I agree- songwriters who don't limit themselves in what they write are the best. I really like Mikael Akerfeldt from the band Opeth. He wrote this song called Harvest and I wanted to share some lyrics from it.
"Into the orchard I walk peering way past the gate
Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait
Drained by the coldest caress, stalking shadows ahead
Halo of death, all I see is departure
Mourner's lament but it's me who's the martyr"

I've had that stuck in my head for weeks- it sounds like poetry and I love it.
I know this is unrelated, but I noticed from your profile that we share the same birthday. I have only met, like, 2 other people in my life who were born on January 10th- crazy.
They had better include the Flash....I know they already have an actor picked out (i dont like him though) so Im not sure what they're gonna do. Maybe a cameo? Id have to say my favorite TV show is the old 1990s X-Men Cartoon. Im still trying to buy all the dvds for it. Its what introduced me to the characters and I like how closely it followed the comics. You know, I dont know anything about Thunderbolts or Inhumans. Is that Marvel?
Ah huv'nae really been following politics as much as ah used to.

As far as the West Lothian Question is concerned (Scottish MPs voting on matters that affect only England), I think it's only fair that Scots MPs aren't allowed to vote. It'd be a different case if the issue had an direct affect on Scotland, then Scottish MPs can have a say in the matter. Or if it was a matter that affected the whole of the UK then I think every MP should be allowed a vote.

And I hate to admit that I'm ignorant as to the business side of Scotland as fair as what industries are bring in the biggest profits at the moment.
Well my favorite hero is still The Flash so yeah thats what Im waiting on right now. But thats a long ways off too. Im really hoping they do him justice so that he looks better on screen than Quicksilver did in the last few movies. Maybe Witchblade too. What about you?
Sorry for the late response, there's this one poem that I like but I forget the title of it. I'll have to look it up and get back to you. I think it starts off with tiger tiger shining bright.
But I definitely think there will be more power devolved to the rest of UK. Since the indy referendum in Scotland made Ireland and Wales re-evaluate their political relationship with Westminister.

Also this recent SNP majority in Scotland has really sent a message to Westminster to deliver on the pledge that Scottish Parliment will have more power to deal with issue that only affect Scotland. And the possibility of another independence referedum is back on the table - even the SNP toying with that idea might be enough to ensure the Conservatives keep their word on give more power to Scotland.
Aye, being part of the UK does offer more financial security & a bigger voice in Europe. But even the whole issue of the EU is kinda heated whenever it gets mentioned over here - with the UK possibly opting out if given the choice to do so.

But I agree with you that countries shouldn't forced to remain in the union. If Scotland, Ireland or Wales decided one day to leave and the people overall, including England, agree then no country should forced to stay if they feel confident enough about going it alone. And maintaining close ties and links with each country shouldn't be dismissed if Scotland becomes independent. Since a lot of people have relatives who live in other parts of the UK.
I agree with you 100%. Music is basically the love of my life. I am a sucker for very melodic stuff- I also enjoy technical drumming. I was in the percussion section all through middle school and some of high school and would really like to pick it up again. Also, really good lyrics are important. How about you?
As far as my views on Scottish independence, I think Scotland should be independent, govern on its own & not rely on getting more money per capita from Westminister compared to the rest of the UK. But how Scotland would sustain itself financially on it own is the reason Scotland isn't independent.

Also, Scottish indepence might set a precedent for Ireland and Wales to call for their indepence from England as well. Ireland in particular, given the similarities with Scotland - is that a wee bit racist of me to say that...? :shyness:
Ye want ma view on Scottish independence? Well, I'll say this, if the SNP called for another referendum yesterday - they'd have got it.

Total nationalism across the whole of Scotland, except in the south-west where I live, but only just...

Anyway, like the Lib Dems in England, Labour in Scotland will take awhile to recover. Because that big surge in SNP support came from people who previously voted Labour. Though, I think that move to SNP was partly a protest vote because Gordon Brown said he'd help Scotland get a fairer deal in the wake of last year's referendum on Scottish independence. But after the Better Together campaign got their result, Gordon Brown did little to ensure he'd keep his word on the new powers for Scotland.
