lol I'm not philosophical at all. That question is just something I always think about. I knew what kind of answers I'd get cause nobody knows for sure, but it is nice to know what everyone thinks, nevertheless.
lol why were you afraid to read it? It's a fantastic book. One of the most sold novels of all time in the UK. And the movie is a classic. I still haven't seen it, but most people I know have and loved it, even though most of them never read the book itself. It greatly affected me yes, as does all good books I read, like they add something to me or change the way I look at something, etc. But they don't make me pessimistic/optimistic, don't worry. ). And anyway just for the record I don't even read all that much of "heavy books" as you call it, I mostly read sci-fi/horror stuff. But any truely good literature can really affect me
