Wow. Had SUCH a blast at the art performance this evening. I'm so glad I decided to suck it up and go; it was one of those nights where you have a big smile plastered across your face as you're walking back to your car afterward.
Funny thing happened too: At the show I spotted a girl that I had gone to art school with. We were in most of the same classes for over two whole years. She walked up to us and I looked her straight in the eye and smiled, expecting her to say hi or give some indication that she recognized me. She just said, "Is someone sitting here?" and sat down with her date and proceeded to continue not acknowledging me for the rest of the evening. Ha! I never liked her much anyway, so no hurt feelings there.
On the other hand, I was sitting in the audience before the show and spotted another girl I had gone to art school with and hadn't seen in years. This is a girl I had actually liked and occasionally talked to, but unfortunately could never seem to get past that barrier with her into an actual, meaningful friendship. I fidgeted for like ten or fifteen minutes, really wanting to go say hi but, of course, being too nervous and awkward to do so. I finally just jumped up and did it, and she was awesomely nice to me, and yes I was awkward, but I am really, really glad I did it. Another win for me tonight!
I'm glad today was a better day for me.
