Would you prefer . . .

Would you prefer being friends with or dating someone with similar problems to yourself?

I know, 2 social phobics, the conversation is going to be amazing.::p: But I think maybe it would be easier. You're both going to be thinking the same thing, right?

I would go for being with someone with similar problems. No idea why actually but I just feel like that. Maybe some else can explain why.::p:

I certainly would not see it as a negative. I think being friends with or dating someone with similar problems and issues might be a positive thing. You and the other person would be able to understand each other a whole lot better than someone who has no idea of the problems you suffer from whether it be SA, OCD, ADD, or anything. I don't think a lot of issues can be 100% solved, but through hard work they can be controlled to an extent and two people with similar issues could be supportive and help each other get better by recognizing the symptoms and providing sound encouragement and advice. Just my two pesos.

I think if we had the similar issues, I wouldn't have to worry about them not understanding if we were supposed to do something & I got too scared & couldn't do it. Plus, they'd be more likely to understand my need for a lot of alone time & maybe wouldn't mind just hanging around the house a lot instead of going out to crowded places like most people.

I'm not sure...... I've been friends with somebody who has a slighter version of this, and when we parted I was worse off. I'd like a friend that is able to help me through it, without having it, so that I can learn I suppose. Or a friend that has it, but is willing to try and conquer it with me. Although I'd definitely get along better with somebody who has it, and it would be comforting, so i'm not sure.

I don't know. I think for me, as long as they accept me for my ways.
It might take me awhile to open up to people sometimes so they would have to be talkative or "the conversation starter" or else I may not even say anything.

I think I would actually rather be friends with them, rather than date them. Don't know why. I think that was the original question?

My current girlfriend has similar problems and I have no other friends, so I guess I've made my choice. But she is my best friend so I get the best of both worlds. And the sex is a plus ;)

2 Million people ? Hard to believe. I can believe that 2 million people have social difficulties, but phobia ? No way.
