ENTRY LEVEL MARKETING / ADVERTISING / PUBLIC RELATIONS
We are seeking individuals with LEADERSHIP qualities, great COMMUNICATION skills, people that excel through competition and have a drive for SUCCESS. The main job responsibility is to aid our Marketing Representatives, Advertising Associates, and Senior Staff in specific projects related to our clients.

Whether you possess excellent communication skills or not, we are looking for individuals who want to improve these skills
Team mentality: we view our office as a team. It takes the work of everyone to generate success as a whole

---I do want to improve my communication skills so I like that they mentioned that versus saying you have to already be there.
The leadership part scares me. When I took classes in college, any class that mentioned that ended up being one of those where you had to speak up, work alot in groups and give speeches.
The fact that its advertising, marketing and PR might be crazy for someone with SA to apply.

I want to slowly step outside my comfort zone but baby steps.

Is this too big of a step for someone with SA? If you think so, say so. I want honest opinions. Dont feel like you're discouraging me if you say it is.

Also if you've worked in anything similar, what exactly do you do?

The step is never too big, the worst that can happen is that you will fail. Just be ready to give everything you have. Either if you fail or succeed, you can only be proud of you for trying, and unless you're giving up something to try it, I guess there is not much to lose and surely you'll learn something in the end.

I'd like to add that I did it once and I failed and I was miserable afterwards for a couple of months. But once I got back on my feet I was able to see that it was not a waste of my time at all.

And to answer your question, I would never, ever, in my entire life, apply for such job.

Yea, I went on their FB page..i think its the same company just a diff location and they had these company get togethers and events and they all seem outgoing. Ughh I almost threw up.

The thing is when I try and fail, I dont pick myself up after sometime and say atleast I tried. I forever remember my mistakes. I dont learn from them. I am haunted by them.

It depends. Have you done jobs before that require communicating with a lot of people (Ex: cashiering, ect.)?
If not I would personally consider this a big step, but that's just me :3

No, I've never even had a real job. I've worked directly with 1 or 2 ppl in their house so yea its a BIG STEP lol

That's because I lowered my voice while saying I failed

I would say if this is really a job that you think you would like to do at least give it a try for the interview, but if the FB page made you want to throw up, maybe it's not a place where you would be happy...

And I know what you mean, I dwell on my mistakes a lot too. Learning to let go is a long training.

It's always says you better have excellent communication skills or you aren't getting hired.

Entry level marketing position.

What they want is bodies, somebody who will go from door to door and sell stuff to people who don't need it.

The events part is to hype up all their salespeople and make them think they are part of the team, don't be surprised if there are a lot of religious type fervour involved.

And by team they mean you have to share your comission with everybody, even the bosses. Especially the bosses.

But do it, it will teach you a lot about yourself, and even more about other people. And you probably won't make any money, but you can put it on your resume.

I fully understand. This happens to me a lot.

Your spec is quite a way beyond me. I have to rely on my technical skills, which always has to go with the over obsessive phrase of "YOU MUST possess excellent communication skills" for every situation and teambuilding...

This really throws me. My summary of all this is mindlessly meaningless simple "hello, how are you" soft skills. I'd rather work directly with wild animals than these mindbending psychologists who 'think they're clever'

Not wanting to be negative. This is my take on humour for this situation. I have to cope with it.

These are bits I wouldn't want to say to you, if I was you. I don't like being told things I already know... I usually have a go at people who say: Good luck! I wish you the very best for the future.

I do best when contacting a Director (MD), CEO, COO, Financial Director, or IT Manager in a nearby office, from my desk, helping them with issues they can't do themselves. I have trouble approaching underlings below. I have a big superiority attitude in my SA. I always need to step well outside of my comfort one. The work problems are all with limited language & understanding of anything.

This is why I like this website. We understand each other

Umm... I remember my mum had a best job, I think, long before I was born this a big Estate Agent firm as a PA to the Director. He was old with some trouble with deafness or blindness, I think, where she accompanied him in meetings or did other stuff independently - selling houses... - and that shorthand writing? Anyone know that? A job helping people out. Well. I like machines. I never understood my mum right - a socialite associate to everyone. For me & Dad

I personally wouldn't and i've worked in that field before. But it all depends on your own personal self esteem and outlook, everyone is different. How do you respond to responsiblity? Are you sensitive to making mistakes, rejection, criticism etc. Can you organise and prioritise hefty work loads, get on the phones when needed etc. How do you deal with pressure from bosses, potentially dealing with difficult emails?

From my experience it was really tough, lots of pain, but that gave me strength in certain areas.

I would personally do it just so you can build strength even if there is a fair bit of initial pain. Because in the end you'll get that out of it if nothing else. It could also be a great place to work as well.

But these job ads seem to be implying technical experts on a vast level, alot of them do unless its trainee or graduate ones which are no where near as common as just standard job adverts looking for people with 2-5+ years (these are the majority), which leaves people wondering how do other people start off in these roles if they aren't advertised on the scale of fully qualified adverts. ITs mind boggling. None of it seems to make alot of sense.

The worst job I've ever had was telemarketing. We had to make calls all day, outgoing calls and sell concert tickets. You want to talk about hell......wow.

I've come to the conclusion I'd rather be homeless than work that job again. That's how bad that job made me feel every second I was there.

I guess sales aint my thing, haha.
