Raised LDS, but I wouldn't have chosen it. While there were admirable components to it - which resulted in a pretty stable family life, it really -is- a cult. And it's a cult that lies damnably about its past. Additionally, it offers no valid evidence to support its central theological claims. (That's a whole can of worms that would span several - or one VERY long - post.)
For that reason, and the fact that it was an incredibly dull faith, I ended up leaving that religion in my late teens and early 20s. I now strongly identify with the skeptical / agnostic (technically atheist, but there is still room for error) side of the spectrum.
If I need miracles, I can observe the advancement of modern medical science. If I need inspiration, there are stories of contemporary human heroism and kindness. If I need a community, well - my personal experience is that religious communities have been hypocritical. If I need purpose - I find it in pursuing my own happiness in ways that hopefully aren't harmful to others. The things that religions can provide can be found outside of them, for me.
