What is the point of life, anyway?

Yeah, just... what is the point of life really? I wrote like a page then realized it was all stupid and pointless itself so backspaced it all and kept that question, which is basically what I'm asking.

Just curious as to know your thoughts...

Why would life have a particular point as relates to humans? If you really need it to though, there's any number of religions to provide one for you. :)

I believe it's to have peace of mind/happiness.
The way we choose to pursue and find that happiness becomes our own meaning.

But ultimately, I don't really think theres a meaning to life.
And maybe thats ok?

Well, I used to wonder a lot about this in high school or so...

Diferent magazines, books or people have different answers...

I think you need to find your own meaning somewhere - what is meaningful to *you*?

For example, you can choose something you like, and take that as your 'life's purpose' (eg 'creating beauty'), or you could take something you really hate to see in the world, and work on changing it/making it better (eg help make the world 'more eco')...

I think the point of life is that we learn and experience new things.. (A friend of mine said it was to have fun :D I think 'learning' encompasses more things though..)

And... isn't it more interesting that we ARE, than if we weren't? :D

What a great question without answer.

I thought about it all my (short) life and ended up with the conclusion that there is none.
So I'm just trying to be as happy as I can, and at the same time making sure I do what I can to keep people around me happy. And if ever I'm unhappy, I remember I just have one life to live (from my point of view at least), so I better try everything possible before ending it because it's not a new beginning, it's just the end of it.

I have wondered about this a lot myself. Unfortunately I have developed into a bit of a cynical nihilist, I guess in a way just to protect myself. If I feel hurt, or unloved, misunderstood or unappreciated I think, well..ultimately...does it REALLY matter?....in the end at least...when I die and my unremarkable life is finally over... then really...does it truly matter?

But...on the flipside, if you are looking for something (slightly) more positive, then perhaps its a question that can only be answered from within. Some say happiness, others say they want to be remembered, others have religious beliefs. Its the ultimate question really... I dont really think anyone really knows for sure...

You have to find out that yourself.. Every human makes his own Succes, Life story, Friendships, Love, and choices, We experience the things we want to experience, and every human loves different things..
So we decide the point .

And i guess, everyone knows what he likes about life, although sometimes It's really such a hard time. But there must be something you like (i'm talking to all of you :D) Even little things can be so beautiful.

But the point is just, that we live life, the way it goes.
And i think, everything happens for a reason.

Think about it.

To look for a point. Happiness maybe? Part of the master plan perhaps? Doing what you wanna do, being who you wanna be? I think there is a reason behind everything, even if I don't what it is (yet).

I believe people are made for a reason. I think God (Not gonna get on anything religious) made everyone for a certain reason in life and we usually don't know what it is until later in life; Like last year I realized I want to help people and I think maybe that's why I've gone through many obsticles in my life so I can prove to others it is possible to succeed and be happy and be independent, and suicide/cutting is not the answer. I think people are supposed to make the world a better place and be good.
I think we all serve a purpose in life ...

I hope I didn't sound dorky saying this.

I don't think there's any real point to it. We humans have a habit of thinking we're a big deal, but let's face it, we're pretty insignificant - we live, we try and make the best of it, and then we die. No religion has it right, and it doesn't matter what (if anything) happens to us when we pass away because we're not conscious of any of it. Nor do I believe in any of that sh!t like if you're an a$$hole in this life you come back as a cockroach in the next one... give me a break. ::p:

Why does life have to have a point to begin with? Just saying, if we don't know anything about it why assume there's a point since even if it has one, nobody knows what it is? Our minds have a funny way of working.

The point of life is to perpetually do something. If you're not, you're dead. Basically to live. Just to live and continue life's existence.

For me, there isn't a clearly defined point. Depending on the person, the point of life differs. Some live for their loved ones. I think I (along with many other people) am just aiming for happiness and to make the most of my time here. :) Though I still wonder if I'm meant for bigger things.

Avoiding all the other ways i could go i'm gonna go the biological route, we're animals that have just happened to evolve a brain that can think these sort of things, whats the point of life for a fox for instance..why a fox i don't know i just like foxes but you would think the point of their life would be to survive and reproduce. Now rapidly evolve a fox to have the same brain as a human and suddenly it believes in a deity and a more significant reason for living? That's basically just us (ape probs would have made more sense but..go fox). So now the fox can live in a world where it wears underwear and feels the need to lick his balls in private. lol.

This sounds kinda against life which i'm really not that's just the way i'm seeing it right now.

But when you do get this advanced awareness of the world and everything...you can make your own point of life..it's to do whatever you want to do, heh like other people have said. I feel like i'm in a bit of a contradicting loop so i'm going to bed.
