do they shut down schools when that happens? do people still go to work?
not here. unless we get over a foot of snow and ice overnight and the plows haven't had time to clear the roads yet. if the buses can't operate safely, they close school.
as for work... things just slow down a bit while people deal with it. as soon as the roads are clear, everything goes back to normal :thumbup:
the state and county highway departments have a whole fleet of snowplow trucks that also spread sand or salt on the ice
lots of people make extra money in the winter by mounting snowplows on the front of their trucks. they go around clearing private driveways and parking lots on a contract basis.
the worst part for me is having to shovel the sidewalks all around my store, which is like a whole a block. good morning exercise
