Internet being out was a really good boost to -finally- start practising on the keyboard.

..Though, it's coming to the point where it's becoming annoying. Paying bills and such is so much easier and faster online. Let's hope internet is restored soon.

in parts of the US, cicadas are called "locusts"

that's what we called 'em where I grew up

yep, they are the same thing

cicada = "locust" in some parts of the US

although, you are right Olhos Abertos - a true locust is really a kind of grasshopper

the English language is a wonderful thing, eh?

what do people in other English speaking countries call these critters?

My dog tore up the air conditioner today. He has torn up internet and power cables, door frames, and hoses.

I have to take him to the pound tomorrow.

He's pretty much my only friend

was staring at the trees outside my window

when a little hummingbird came up and hovered just beyond the glass

what a thrill it was to watch

it was only a few moments

but it made my day

The same thing happened to me a month or so ago. There was barely any light left outside and I saw a dark shape hover at the window briefly. My first thought was that that was one BIG wood bee.

Several seconds later I realized that insects don't move quite the same as hummingbirds. Then I figured I needed to stick my nose in a field guide again.
