My brother found 2 baby squirrels while working. Now he's keeping them as pets.
Uh, if your brother lives in New Jersey, I hope he knows what he's doing. Take a look at
this, particularly pages 2 and 5.
If he's not in NJ, he should definitely check with that state's regulations. And I don't mean to piss on anyone's parade; I just remembered a bit from when I was looking into falconry regulations in NJ a few years ago. So unless he wants to risk a few fines and having his lovely pets confiscated (and possibly euthanised if they're too acclimated to humans), a wildlife rehab place might be his best option.
But I'd love to have a pet squirrel or two myself. The way they climb around and can seemingly get into
anything makes them pretty cool in my book. Right up there with ravens and crows. But state laws and regulations have thus far thwarted my plans to become the wannabe Beastmaster of NJ.
