Nice pics, but I don't think it's a sharp-shinned hawk. I see lots of them up here in NJ, and I've never seen one that looks like that. After a quick look through my handy field guide and some quick Googling, I think you photographed a very pale-looking red-shouldered hawk. Apparently you have a paler subspecies of them down in Florida. That would explain both the washed out look and the black/white banding on the back of the tail. A sharpie would have a longer tail with a darker brown/dark gray banding on the back.
I'd love to ramble on about the differences between accipiters and buteos, but I don't want to chase anyone away. I'll just say I have a slight interest in birds of prey and leave it at that.
