Men's Right's Movement

Looking at the MGTOW movement ...really seems to push "women only marry you for money"-isn't the male currency of women their looks?...it's all the same just a different "package". Not too many guys rushing to the alter with a woman who they think is dog-food in the looks dept.

No, it couldn't possibly be this! These are all such noble men... forward-thinking, modern-day monks probably. Nothing to do with bro-culture or Peter Pan syndrome! :giggle:

So when a feminist decides to be independent of domestic enslavement she is considered "empowered" but when a man does it he is a "Peter Pan". Real nice!

And THIS is the kind of thinking the MRM is trying to end.

Peter Pan syndrome. Little men in tights. Yep, some of the men of MTGTOW have that is spades.

I am a realist, not a feminist.

Very well then, in what ways do they need to grow up?

A rule towards women

8. I do not interact with them unless absolutely necessary. If I do, it’s for sex, their only use.

My question to you in what ways do they not need to grow up?

I googled that, you just quoted some random individual in a forum post. I don't know anything about MGTOW but is Cap285 the elected representative of the movement or something?

EDIT: To add to this, I just checked up the About page of the site and here's what it says:

M.G.T.O.W – Men Going Their Own Way is a statement of self-ownership, where the modern man preserves and protects his own sovereignty above all else. It is the manifestation of one word: “No”. Ejecting silly preconceptions and cultural definitions of what a “man” is. Looking to no one else for social cues. Refusing to bow, serve and kneel for the opportunity to be treated like a disposable utility. And, living according to his own best interests in a world which would rather he didn’t.

I don't see anything wrong with this, do you?

I see plenty wrong with it, but that's my opinion. That's not the only count of apparent mysogony on that site, so much anger, so much feeling of entitlement. Peter Pan syndrome alive and well and living on MGTOW.

And if you think there is nothing wrong with a site like that, then we are clearly in disagreement, so good luck with your views. I think the site is abhorrent, does that trouble you?

Well like I said I don't know anything about MGTOW apart from that about page. What specifically do you disagree with that description?

Men Going Their Own Way is a statement of self-ownership, Nothing wrong with self-ownership.

where the modern man preserves and protects his own sovereignty above all else. Again, nothing wrong with self-ownership.

It is the manifestation of one word: “No”. Nothing wrong with being able to say "no".

Ejecting silly preconceptions and cultural definitions of what a “man” is. I totally agree with this. Things like men should not show emotions.

Looking to no one else for social cues. Not being tied by cultural norms, again not wrong.

Refusing to bow, serve and kneel for the opportunity to be treated like a disposable utility. How is that a bad thing? No one should be treated like a disposable utility.

And, living according to his own best interests in a world which would rather he didn’t.

Really, which part is wrong here?

The description makes it sound so much more innocuous than it is, however the persecution complex and bitterness is still pretty evident.

Persecution complex? Those people are clearly persecuted, example: this thread. And can you blame people for being bitter about an issue that they're trying to resolve? You could just as well blame Feminists of being bitter about women issues and having a persecution complex, that's just silly now.

Can't really have a factual debate on this site, all I read are biases.

Holy smokies. That page of memes/image macros is incredibly bitter and sophomoric - some of them sound like they were written by a disgruntled, misguided 14 year old. They talk about not placing women on a pedestal yet all they do is talk about women.

I noticed that too. Plus, all of the women they show look like porn stars or super models, maybe if they went for the more average, normal female they would have better luck!

LOL. Then you are right. I hadn't realized their ideology was so extreme, but that is because I never bothered to do my homework on MGTHOW. Next time I shall do my homework!

I thought the same, the concept of anyone going their own way sounds great. Then I looked into it, and realised, the concept falls down in practice.

I just think its good to see men thinking differently for a change. I certainly wont say that MGTOW is the answer, but men need to do some evolving.
