sickjoke is going by the whole "tribal" or "social status" mentality in which girls just go by what OTHER people tell them and none of what her own self tells her, to make a judgment on the subject of interest (the guy we are talking about).
Seriously.. these are like for the women who want a guy that other girls can be jealous about.. or simply just to appear like someone with social status. Ie choosing the popular guy simply because he's popular regardless of how he really is behind closed doors.

Although, sometimes our logic gets overruled by emotion in the moment. Some guys might say "I'm not interested in looks, I just want a girl with a great personality." But when they see that supermodel walk by, their logic is suspended temporarily
So, the things we say we are and are not attracted to, don't always hold true in the moment.

What if he's just casually talking to a group of women, and they're all showing interest in him? He's not looking for attention, he's just chatting and being himself. He could even just be talking to one beautiful woman, and it would have the same affect.

So true. I worked with a girl who was not extremely pretty, but after a while she became very pretty in my eyes because of her personality. An average looking girl with a nice personality is all I'm looking for.U know.. I dont even find many of the super models that pretty. Really sometimes beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We many times try to convince ourselves of something that's not true for various reasons, like me for example trying to convice myself I don't want this girl coz of my SA coz that would mean all kinds of new problems and challenges,
So is it in this case, in a perfect world where everyone would have emotional freedom I believe all guys would go for the hottest girls and women for the alpha males... but that's not the case, so some women actually prefer a nice guy or shy guy
But what pick up artists are about? They can go around the logic, the rational thinking of a woman and just keep her emotions in play, that's why that stuff works,
