Insomnia

Is any of you suffering from insomnia? If so, how do you deal with it? I developed insomnia since the end of 2014 till present. Almost every night I only sleep like 3 or 4 hours. That's why I'm not doing great at work. I forget things and can't concentrate. I just feel extremely tired during the day. I never thought I would get insomnia, cuz I used to sleep so good, like 10 hours daily, but in the past years it really has to do with the fact that I've been alone in my whole life and I just need to get f.u.c.k.e.d. to sleep like a baby. I'm 33 now and it's really time for a partner. Ppl have been telling me that I'm good looking. I take that as a compliment, but I don't know where to find a bf and friends. I currently only have 1 friend in real life and I have the feeling that she knows that I have no other friends in this country. I have online friends, but nobody close to where I live. Also I have the feeling that she's trying to distance me. It sucks. Anyway, how do you cure your insomnia? I've tried drinking beer to pass our faster. I've tried going to the gym, travelling, but nothing seems to help. I just need sex, cuz this insomnia and depression needs to stop now, lol!

Hello Sinopia,

I only have insomnia for a peculiar reason (depends on perspective, though)--I tend to prefer the deep night as that's when I can concentrate best. Not as if there's much demand for my awkward self, during the day, either.. though. Myself and other folks--we don't get along. xD

I've got to say I'm impressed by your blunt attitude, there.

In the meantime, exercise will definitely help. Also, do consider magnesium--it's tried and true.

I'm not great with the insomnia advice, but sometimes it helps me to have the tv on so I can doze off while watching something. Some people find heavy exercising helps. If im having a bad night for sleep nothing really works for me, I just gotta wait for my heavy sleeping days (I tend to cycle between times of no sleep and times of too much sleep)

Audio books help me sleep sometimes, but when I'm really suffering nothing does. I just have to wait it out, it's been a long time since I've had a bad episode, but I've been up for 2,3 and sometimes 4 days without sleeping a wink. The older you get the worse it tends to get, I've been told. I also think that if I had someone to sleep with it would make things better, but social phobia prevents that, as you know.

You want to know how I got these scars?

I have an app on my phone where you can take surveys for money. I always figure as long as I can't sleep, I may as well take some surveys. Sure enough, after about 20 minutes of taking rather boring surveys at 1:00 in the morning, I suddenly can barely keep my eyes open.

The app I have is called Zap Surveys. They're legit although it can take a while to earn enough to transfer money to your account. You have to get up to $25 before you can make a transfer. I like them though. Makes me feel like I'm doing something productive with my time.

That sounds pretty good, sadly my paleolithic ass doesn't have a smart phone.

I've also experienced days where I'd get little to no sleep. My anxiety is mostly what prevents from falling asleep. Even if I'm relaxed(I prefer to sleep on my left side.), and not moving a whole lot, it still takes me probably 5 or 6 hours to sleep. Strangely enough, I cant fall asleep before 3 AM and I've heard other people have this problem too. Theres times where I think I slept but it doesnt feel like I did at all. I'm terrible at remembering my dreams.

Sorry for my very late reply. Thank you all for the sweet advice. I'm thinking about to start with yoga after this quarantine life. Well I still work from Monday till Friday, but in the past months I've been staying at home in the weekends.

I see you already replied to this that you are going to start yoga. I hope that helps. I have always suffered from insomnia, and one thing I recently found that helps me fall asleep is watching ASMR videos. This channel, in particular, has been good: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC92V40-lqY0Pmucu71BueAA. She has a lot of videos of playing with people's hair, giving massage, and talking softly. I usually can't get through a whole video before my eyelids get heavy.
