Lately I've been struggling to cope with my suicial thoughts and have nearly acted upon them.

How do you cope with suicidal thoughts?

well miserable cow this might not work for you but give it a go anyhow..its a bit unorthodox i spose.
i think about how short life is in the astromical scale. This universe in which we exist, a human life span is merely just a flicker of time, barely a spec, you may aswell endure what life has to throw at you for this short time, we will all be dead soon enough. the universe is using you to observe itself, good or bad, you owe it to be its mirror for a short time, as thats why it created you.
you might get a life threatening cancer in 5, 10-15 years time, or get hit by a bus tomorrow..then you can die in dignity and honor (unless you didnt have clean underware on when hit by the bus), and your family wont be as distraught as if you had suicided. do you have any pets or loved ones? think how they will miss you...i think of my 2 little dogs and how unfair it would be to them to suddenly just dissappear, they probably wouldn't even understand that i have died, which saddens me. anyway goodluck and stay strong, you are not alone.

I'm sorry about your situation ...I'm not sure if my advice can be helpful but for the times that I've felt at my lowest diet has always been the main culprit... white bread , inflammatory foods (esp eggplants), if you can't find any reasons or if you suddenly get feelings of that sort without specific mental triggers the key might be hidden in your diet.

It may be weird but I find fantasising about it comforting when I have these thoughts.

When you're feeling like this think of people who are in worse situation than you, and yet they live, and they're happy to be alive.
Have you heard of Nick Vujicic? I don't know you but I'm pretty sure your life is way easier than his, just beacuse you could type that post. If not check out this video

I guilt trip myself, I think what it will do the people around me. Also I try and think how much pain I have endured, I don't give myself false hope or pretend everything is going to get better like some fairy tale, but I do think well I've come this far, might as well see it out will the end.

I don't really know what to say.

I just wait until they pass. I used to talk to friends, but that's no longer an option, because I think they're annoyed of hearing the same crap over and over.

My dad committed suicide 16 years ago, knowing the troubles I faced after those years and knowing how much i was affected makes me realize that even though it may not seem like it, people still need me. And people need you in your life too. And remember the road to recovery is long and sometimes you will feel like this, it's not you it's your depression.

Well, I'm an Atheist. So I'm 100% sure that with my death, I cease to exist, forever. That means that there is no chance anymore that things could improve. There is no hope, there is simply nothing. And that is somewhat scary.

Another thought is, that by committing suicide, I'd hurt my family and my friends, a lot. Especially my mother. I couldn't do that to her, destroy her life like this.

I'm not an atheist, but I've got "atheistic tendencies". :) Even when I'm feeling a bit atheistic, I don't, however, feel too scared about the idea of nothingness. I equate it with the period before I was born. Whether there was "something" (e.g. previous lives) or nothing before that, it obviously isn't a scary thought.

Just an observation.

Of course, there are worse things than nothingness. Like being in terrible pain due to certain diseases. Still, the idea of nothingness for eternity is scary to me, probably because we can't imagine eternity. I like hugs, I hope that things become better. But they can't become better when I'm dead.

I also hope things become better. My one consolation about nothingness after death, is that things (probably) won't become worse.
