How did you meet your friends/best friends/mate?

I believe that work and college are very good places to meet people, where without your choice, you 'need' to work with people one way or another.

But yeah clubs (which i personally despise), concerts, bars/pubs, any of these places are a good way to meet your friends, friends.

I suppose thats the best way to socialise, meeting friends of friends.

Hope this helps.

Most friends I've met through school and/or extracurricular activities I used to do. I also met my past b/f through school as well.

I met my best friend in culinary arts class, first year of high school. Ahhh, good times...... I remember thinking at first that she was a real bitch. Hahaha.

I met my close friends in school. I've gotten to know acquaintances through work and mutual friends too.

But yeah, like others have already mentioned, join clubs or extracurricular activities. I know people say this all the time but it really does help. You'll meet new people who share your interests. :)

The cold truth of the matter is that I don't really have friends anymore. The general opinion seems to be that people like me, but from a considerable emotional distance. Whenever at social gatherings and I talk to people, they noticeably try to get out of the conversation in a polite way.

My cat is my best friend. It's just easier when you can express affection through physical platonic touch rather then vague words. And she came to us, for that matter. As did my previous cat. So luck for me, really.

All my h.s friends have pretty much dissapeared, we found out our common interests were not really that common, so they moved away, got married, had kids, divorced etc. While i am still in college pursuing my higher education whatnots. Anyhow, when i was 17 and arrived at my Latino/Chicano based dorm freshmen year i met a few people who instantly thought i was a horrible stuck up bitch because i always ignored them, the only few people who stood up for me was my roomate and a girl who lived a couple doors down. I still room with my roomate and her twin sister, and the other girl, although we had a brief falling out over my SA and depresión, we remain close to this day. Those three girls are awesome, and i am glad they exist in my life.

So yeah school, and forced living situations have brought me my best friends :), oh well that and this website :p

I rarely meet people.
Even if I do meet people, and even if we start seeing each other, I find it hard to really become friends, and if we become friends, it´s hard for me to maintain a friendship. I don´t get easily along with people. I just feel different. I loose the connection.

I met my best friend in 1rst grade.
Have been friends since.
We're both 22 now.
But He's kind of lost interest in the friendship in recent years.

The weird thing for me is that I too have always just made friends through other friends so I don't really feel like I've ever had any experience in trying to make my own friends which sucks really.

For the past couple years, I have met my friends online. I met my boyfriend online too. It is where I spend my free time after all. I like my online friends, I just wish they lived closer so we could hang out. It is lonely this way.

What if I don't have any friends? I guess I am the loser even on a SA thread.

Everyone talking about their friends on this thread and I don't even have any, haha.

I've known my best friend my whole life because our mothers are friends, so we grew up together. At this point we're more like brothers even though we don't' see each other as much. Other than that, the only friends I've ever made were just several kids at school that I maintained contact with, but those faded as well. I haven't made a new friend in a loooooong time.
