Getting into the holiday spirit

Do you feel as if you *should* be getting into the holiday spirit, even though you could kind of take it or leave it? For some reason, I feel like I *should* make the effort to get together with friends I've not seen in a while, but at the same time I'd be just as happy sitting at home! I guess seeing pics of others' Christmas trees and holiday parties makes me feel like I'm missing out, but at the same time it's so much work to get my butt up and moving! Wish I wasn't feeling like such a slug. The thought of it all sounds good, but actually doing it is another story! /scrooginess

I don't really feel obligated at all, especially this year. I'll be on vacation during Christmas, anyway, so there really isn't going to be any get-togethers for me.

The cold air, waking up early, socializing......... your warm comfy sofa, TV, and all of the beautiful amenities of your gracious abode. Holly Jolly Christmas! The FM filled with classical songs and then you feel a warmth in your heart and the energy and spirit of the old times. Trying to convince yourself "it's just a holiday" "It is just a holiday"! Yet you can not shake the impressions away. You wish you could just whip by events in the convenience of your cavern. Yet, you can not make a 360 with out something holy smacking you in the face. Christmas awaits around every corner "feed me" "you know you wanna" and you say I rather sip some coco and soak in the sofa looking at the yule log burn. Yet you feel the spirit of Christmas deep deep deep down in side. Even Ebenezer felt it somewhere. Oh Christmas is a beautifully sad beautiful sad day.

Sounds like an ideal Christmas! :)

I'll take the latter! :D

I do actually like Christmas but don't have the energy for it all! I am going to meet some friends next week for holiday get-togethers and have been listening to lots of Christmas music on the radio, so hopefully I'm not being a total Scrooge! I may even do some baking (well...maybe - in theory it sounds fun but the couch may win out!).

No. I don't believe in Christmas and I boycott it. Its nothing but religious/capitilist propaganda. As an Atheist and Socialist, it goes against all my principles. Every year I refuse to make any purchases on the 24th and 25th and I make my family watch religulous.

I was born Jewish, and even as a young boy I thought religion was pointless and twisted.

It's for fake people to fake being happy for one day and then instantly go back to normal.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I'm in the holiday spirit.

All the employees are gone and I have the workshop to myself for 3 weeks.

And I've limited my to-do list to 10 items.

Friends? What's that?

I feel the same way, sadly my family gave me alot of grief recently about my personal choice to boycott Christmas for the same reasons. Not that I'm against the rest of my family celebrating.

Being with friends and family during the holidays is very in the "holiday spirit" but you can just as easily get into the holiday spirit at home by yourself. You can get a tree and decorate it, watch Christmas movies, and decorate the house itself lol I love the holiday spirit but that doesn't mean I love the socializing bit of it.

I'm having a hard time sticking to my principles this year because the new zelda game just came out. I want it soo bad.

I was so pissed off, I sold my Wii for an Xbox and the NEXT GODDAMN DAY they announced skyward sword.

Well I'm a raised Catholic so my mom and I always celebrate Christmas. I wouldn't say I ever get into the "holiday spirit" though. The holidays is when I usually feel lonelier than usual. No family besides my mom or friends to celebrate with and the only thing I really do to celebrate is *try* to play a Christmas song on guitar (I'm still learning). Other than that, I'm your typical social phobic Scrooge.

we should kill some zombies together sometime ;)

When the apocolypse comes, I'll try to send you my coordinates via internet before the electricity gets cut off. I'll then send out flare signals to let you know its clear. I hope you're familiar with morse code.
