For those of you without friends, how have you filled that void?

I've become really active on yahoo answers and that is pretty much the majority of my interaction. I have a girlfriend who lives far away from me so to pass the time I just go online

I'm ashamed to admit it but being on SPW is the only human interaction I get outside of family (in my current situation). And I don't even have proper converations with anyone here, I just reply aimlessly to random threads. It's kinda sad, actually.

Well...I don't have friends in the same state I live in since I have moved a lot the last 3 years and am not at all outgoing (obviously) so I play WoW online with my best friend growing up who moved to Canada. We talk on raidcall, on these forums here I'm able to open up and find some social interaction that I need so much because so many people here are accepting and polite to me regardless of how awkward I am. It sucks sometimes because I go weeks and weeks not actually talking out loud unless my mum calls me so raidcall (kinda like skype with no picture) helps me and my friend talk out load together.

I go on Yahoo answers sometimes. I first went on there many years ago when my ex girlfriend broke up with me and I was all upset... etc etc and so forth.... and It kinda stuck.. I actually like the anonymity there. I can ask questions that are potentially stupid without feeling like I am being judged.... and still able to get feedback from my thoughts.

Dont worry... I do that too. You know...being shy and all...

If you want someone to have a conversation with, you can chat to me if you like.

Just make sure you don't end up on Unfriendable. ;)

I have some friends, but there are times where I don't see them often. I usually just listen to music and browse the Internet, if I'm not at work. Sometimes I'll go out and get something to eat on my own, if I'm getting cabin fever. Drumming, too. I have enough things to fill the void, and I enjoy my own company enough, to get by.

Chatrooms, internet in general, trying to do more interactive things with people in the outside world such as walking over to a coffee stop to get something.

Visiting SPW on a daily basis. This website is probably the only social interaction I get outside of my family.

If I'm bored from staying at home all day, I go around the city and ride public transit for about 4-5 hours.

this might sound pathetic... i think video games + music have filled that void lol. Plus, i visit a lot of places online where i can talk to others.

I play a lot of video games myself. That and the internet. Sometimes it can get boring though.

I mostly spend time...

- searching for interesting things (comedy sites, movie sites, forum sites, etc)
- playing games on various game consoles,
- translating foreign-language stuff (usually due to high demand of translation.)
- filling out questionnaires
- reading (a last resort; I enjoy reading, just not in my spare time :p)
- drawing
- TUMBLR TUMBLR TUMBLR (not a member, but the stuff there is awesome)

Sports really. I guess its how ive really gotten into the really obscure sports for the typical Canadian like cricket, rugby, aussie rules footy and the like.

I also used to love videogames but for some reason I dont play that much anymore. I turned on my ps3 for the first time in months and played GT5 for about 30 minutes then I got bored. Im bored of all my games and theres nothing really coming out that interests me,mixed in with the fact that games these days are damn expensive. Seriously I was at EBgames and FIFA 09 is still like 55-60 f**kin bucks. Its ridiculous.

Also has anybody heard of BlogTV? Thats actually a great site. When I go on there I dont feel so alone.

Sorry to hear you get bored, but I have that exact same thing. I put on Sim City 4 recently and after about 10 minutes I was done. I wonder what happened because a few years ago video games were my life.

You're right that video games are expensive, but if you're into it, you find a way to afford it, as I have with my heavy metal collection.

I listen to an unhealthy amount of music. Depression seems to magnify if you stay reclusive in your own house, so I sometimes just go on walks around the beach/neighbourhood. Sometimes just a contrast of location can improve your wellbeing.

I am similar. I can listen to music for most waking hours of my day. It's just something I always do and I'm positive my ears will thank me by not being crippled by tinnitus when I'm 50!

I do beach walks, as well. Fresh air and sun can be great for your mood. I think you're doing the right thing there. :)

We had a conversation about it a while back::p: When the season starts (which I got my carlton shirt on!) its on every friday night:)

But honestly video games strike such a cord with me,when I play video games I feel an overwhelming feeling of guilt. I never used to see games as the dumb and childish things that adults used to call them,we were kids and we were having fun.

But as I got older and everyone around me started to abandon them I began to see them like that. All of my past and former friends from both real life and online that were obsessed with games have long since moved on to other things in their life. I would ask "hey man are you coming online later" and they would reply with "man I dont have time for that sh*t anymore I got a girlfriend and a job now, sorry". The last time any of them logged on was over a year ago.

So now when I play I have in my head everybody else my age working jobs and moving forward with their lives while im just a stupid kid playing stupid games::(:
