I'm told I look younger than my actual age. I will be turning 22 in February, yet I've been told by many people that I could pass for a 16-year-old girl. Haha. I don't know if I should be flattered or offended.

Yes. I'm turning 19 on February and I look around 15. But it's in the family ... My sister was asked for an ID when buying cigarettes, and she is 35.

I'm almost 18, and I honestly think I look like I'm about 12 or 13. People have told me I look about 15 or 16, but I just can't see that. My height doesn't really help either, as I'm only 5 foot.

Where did you hear this?! About a week or two before my 25th birthday, somebody asked me if I was in grade 12! O_O

I'm 30 and can't even pass for 18, very embarrassing. I think that fear of embarrassment is an element of my social phobia. Last time I was in a bar I had to ask someone else to get the drinks because I was clean shaven. I even said I look too young they won't serve me because I'm an honest with my thoughts but it didn't go down too well as those people ignore me now.

My grandad said that I,as a 17 year old, look younger than my 12 year old sister.Perhaps its cos I never wear make-up and still dress like a kid

I have been told this. I think it has to do with the fact that I spend such a tiny amount of time in sunlight.
Sunlight can do a lot of damge to the skin over time.

I don't know what age I look to be, I more just see myself looking manly. But that's not what this is about. :p

A couple people have mentioned how I look to be 16, when in reality I'm 18.
I didn't know there was even a certain way you looked from 16 to 17 to 18!
Maybe I'll be on of those lucky people who when I'm 40 I'll look to be 35 ....

Not sure if I do anymore, but I'm pretty sure when I was 20 years old I still looked about 16, and when my brother was 16 he looked 21. That IS a good point about possibly being less exposed to the sun when being an introvert, and maybe coming off as less socially mature when having less experience around people? My sister always got carded because she refused to wear makeup and is barely 5 feet tall. I also have a theory that I get carded more frequently when I wear a baseball cap, as that is often akin to the college kid's uniform. Got a few grey hairs coming in now, so I'm not sure anymore.

It happens a bit, usually when I'm buying a lottery ticket they sometimes ask to see some id to prove I'm over 18.

To those of you talking about getting ID'ed: Maybe this depends on local law, but where I live, most places are required to ask for ID if you look under 25. (You can drink, gamble and buy cigarettes here at 18.) A 17 year old might appear to be 23, say. Then maybe someone who's 27 comes along next and also looks 23. It wouldn't be wise to just ID anyone who looks like a teenager.

Understandable, but maybe some people just have no sense of judgement. I'm 38 and got asked for ID today to buy beer. You have to be 21.
