Yes it does. To just be able to talk to people with the same sorts of problems as me, to know im not the only one out there, and to be able to talk to people who understand SA. It helps a lot i think!
I've read some pretty empowering things in these forums. It does make me feel better and it pushes me to be strong. It's also a place I can have an opinion about SA. its sort of a secret to everyone else, so I don't talk about it with anyone else :/
I've vaguely mentioned anxiety issues to my bf, but never SA.... Blah... Its nice to have a place to vent.

This website has a bit of split personality.
As DeepBlueSea said, there is helpful material here: other people's insights, feedback about what they have read and medication etc. You would be unlikely to come up with all the insights, experiences of helpful things etc. on your own.
On the other hand, although DeepBlueSea mentioned it in a positive context, all the venting is not helpful, even, in the end, to the person concerned, and some people have left for exactly that reason.

Hi hoddesdon 🙂
Im new to the forum, why people have left due to venting?

They left because the venting made them feel more depressed, and kept reminding them of their own problems. It is helpful to be able to forget about problems, at least for a period of time, but venting keeps reminding you of them, which can make them seem worse.
In moderation it does I know it sounds a little dramatic but I probably would’ve been suicidal If I was the only one going through this.
To a point it does, but it can get a little morose at times, too. Ha Ha - I come here to escape, and it makes me sad to read about everyone’s problems. So I come and go.
