Do you have any talents?

Hello there, I was curious about what talents you guys have, a big part of my problem is that I'm quite bad at everything I do, making me feel very inferior.

But of course all the therapists tell me that's MY OPINION. It probably is but I'm trying to do lots of different things to find out what I'm good at! But no luck so far...

So maybe if you tell me all your talents it can "broaden my horizons" so to speak so I can discover my hidden power hehe!

EDIT: This is my 100th post! Yay!

I can write and I can draw..that's pretty much it lol. I think because I've studied faces so much so that I could draw them, I've also developed a knack for recognizing when people are upset within a few seconds after seeing them but that's not a "talent" people like very much. Last time I asked an acquaintance if he was ok, he gave me a suspicious look and went "Are you a psych major or something?"

I'd love to be good at sports but I'm too clumsy and I don't have the drive to pursue any sports because of SA.

I'm sure you have some hidden talents tucked away somewhere. The thing with talents is that many times they have to be developed. DaVinci wasn't born with an ingenious sense of color and dimension, for example. I think people get too caught up in the idea that to be talented, you have to be able to do it naturally, and then people think that if they can't do it within the first month or so of trying, it means they're no good - which isn't true by any means.

I'm the same way - I have no talents and it really makes me feel shitty. I can't sing, dance, play any instruments, write, draw, paint or ANYTHING. Yeah...pretty useless.

Hmm I see. I used to be really good at drawing stuff (well i hought i was lol) at around 8-10 years old i made up my own superheroes ad stuff and did comic books of them, one lasted 30 issues lol (but nobody else actually read them haha).

About three months ago i found these in one of my draws, after reading them page by page I then broke down in tears, it felt like a completely different person did them all, I never remember how much effort and detail I put into my comic books. I realised how much I'd changed. Now my imagination has vanished and I can no longer draw anything "well".

I draw and paint. I'm currently painting some miniatures and working on a drawing right now. I used to sculpt too, but i grew a bit tired of it, and no one liked what i created anyway, it always ended up broken or in the trash...

Talents eh? I am quite well read, so I've got lots of occasionally useful knowledge. I've got a pretty good mind for strategy and tactics. I paint miniatures (GW stuff), although I'm not very good at it. I'm good with computer hardware (built my computer/the computers of my few friends). I used to be good at soccer... but it's been so many years since I last played I'm not sure if I'm good anymore.

See a lot of people tell me that. But I've really thought it through and there isn't anything that comes to mind. That's why I made this topic so that someone migh say somethng and make me realise "oh im good at that!" lol

Oh and I can't draw a straight line either unless i have a ruler

I write, draw, sing and play the piano. I have more of a talent for writing than anything, although at the moment I have writer's block... and it's rather frustrating. Of course, I do none of these thing on a professional level, and probably never will.
Futhermore, I still wouldn't consider them talents... just things that I've practiced for a while. I don't really believe in "talent" or "gifts." Just skill.

Agreed. I don't really have any natural talents or gifts. Just skills. A lot of skills. Mostly skills in solitary activities developed from a lifetime of loneliness.

Hmm what skills specifically do you do in solitary? I'm just curious!

I can draw and people say I can write, but I really don't know what I'm doing in that department I just write things that would be fun for me to draw.lol

I make a webcomic for DC Comics at Adam Atherton's Lily of the Valley.

Sometimes though I think having talent is a curse. I can never relax without feeling like I am doing myself a disservice by not working on art. Sometimes I just feel like a slave to it and can never take a break. If I were to ever stop doing it I would become depressed and feel constant regret and like I let myself down. So I have to keep doing it no matter how time consuming it is and hard it gets, and with all the stress and panic and anxiety it brings.
