Do you have a personality?

Over the years, I have identified other people as having certain types of personalities, mostly tied into their interests and styles. I have come to realize that I can find things (books, movies, clothes, etc.) that would match others. I have even gone clothes shopping for myself and thought, "so-and-so would love this!" but was not able to find anything that was "me" (which is plain shirt, jeans, tennis shoes--very exciting! :sarcastic:) Also, several people in my life have similar interests, but do not know each other, and I tend to feel like I should introduce them (for some reason, it seems that there is one male and one female in most of these instances, but since I'm usually dating the guy, it's not a set-up situation).
I guess my issue is that I don't really know how to define what a personality is...when people give me the broad request, "tell me something about yourself" I have no idea what to say.
What constitutes a personality??

I don't have much of a personality anymore. I am just acting out a slightly varying role for a few people around me.

You don´t need effing personality. Just because people don´t have certain style, if you can´t box them, does it meant they are nobodys??

I have seen many people with very distinctive styles or devoting their lives to a single idea or interest, to the point it could define them.

I personally am not a walking profession, music or fashion style or anything like that. I am just a consciousness with no definition, is that bad

I can REALLY relate to this statement. These mental illnesses are not who we are. Our true selves are watered down by our conflicting mental issues. Although I do believe some people can cope with them much better than others actually and not show that they have issues as much.

I wish I were one of those people.

Good topic!!

I can't tell! I dunno!

I don't have anyone to speak to
Terrified of supermarket checkouts and all the people there
Cos I wear the same clothes, the people might recognise me, as the one worth laughing at, wandering alone and avoiding people

Hair cutters have a smile for me
funny stares
I get a salute from one trainer at the gym

I can only do reverse engineering to guess at what people think of my personality, from their behaviour towards me

When I bump into anyone I know, I feel better
But I'm the one who goes on & on about me and what happened to me just now, today, yesterday, week before, last month... last year
I don't know how to change. I've got nobody else to talk about

The cat in the car park likes me. Always comes to me. I leave her when I've got stuff to do

My favourite comfortable activity is sleeping at night

I'm not sure why this way of thinking bugs me so much, but everytime I "hear" the term "true selves" or true me or real me, I cringe.... This IS the real you, with all your qualities and lacks. Here and now, there is no other you. If you don't like this "you", you can work on what you don't like in it. I hope I'm not ruining anyone's day by saying that.

I feel the same. Sometimes I consider just taking on the personality of a character or person I like. (Probably a mix of a few different ones)

Inevitably, however it never comes out in public. I then stopped fighting it, and just keep my personality for the few I care about/feel comfortable around.

I think personality is a combination of things, but mostly I think it means that you're opinionated and expressive, which I'm not. I don't feel strongly about too many things to have an opinion worth arguing about, and for the few things I do feel strongly about I'm just too shy and afraid to express myself.

Hell yeah. My personality is strong. Eccentric, loud, weird, emotional, sensitive, warped, creative.

Aye, me too.

I think maybe "personality" is a mixture of ego and character. For me is only important that the person has strong character, I don´t care about their ego, or their image.

I'm not sure what my personality is because it is constantly evolving. For instance my music tastes and fashion style has changed over the years.

I personally am not a walking profession, music or fashion style or anything like that. I am just a consciousness with no definition, is that bad

The only thing that doesn't change is the consciousness. No matter what personality you adopt, you are still you. The same being.

personality test: Imagine a very tall banana tree and there are four animals there is
  1. lion
  2. giraffe
  3. squirrel
  4. chimpanzee
The animals decide to compete to see who can get a banana from the tree first. who do you think wins ?

Don't we all have some sort of personality; I mean, we're all individuals right? It's just wrapped up so tightly in anxiety and fear, we can't show it.

For me it all depends on who I'm around or what I'm doing. I'm usually fairly serious, especially at work, other times jokey and sarcastic, I can also be just plain goofy like when I'm around my kids. I'm sure I get a lot of odd looks in public for that last one, but hearing my kids laugh outweighs that.

Everyone has a personality. It's the way you treat people, how you react to the way people treat you, decisions you've made, things you've learned, the thoughts in your head,it's ALL part of your personality.

I don't think the clothes you wear, the music you listen to and the tv shows you like show anything meaningful about your personality. Those things just provide something to talk about when you're in a room full of people.

when I am happy my personality shines out, but if I am worried, scared, or panicked back into the shell it goes.
