Nice photos Kihira, Beautiful firetails are one of my favourite birds. I used to see them on the Curra Moors trail in Royal National Park, that's over 35 years ago now.

Bird watching really relaxes me. I have a bird feeder up in the winter. It attracts Cardinals,Sparrows, and a few other species. With all the snow this winter the birds are at the feeder all the time.

This Sudanese Goose was rather affronted when I pointed out his girlfriend was some sort of hybrid. I might be wrong, maybe she's leucistic? But to me she looks like some sort of sudanese x domestic goose hybrid.

No one special in here, black swan, coots, seagulls. But how weird is their symmetry?! I was expecting to find my wallet stolen after watching them arrange themselves!

So yeah, I like photographing birds and watching them. Those are probably my best offerings.

This Sudanese Goose

!

Alopochen aegyptiaca

No wonder I've been having trouble identifying it. What's an Egyptian bird doing in a park in central Texas? Besides making babies, I mean.

A couple of yellow-headed blackbirds passing through on their spring migration.

Nice photos, all.

Personally I seem to like mourning doves, the best. Hilarious to watch, and they don't get scared of us as easily as most birds.

Personally, I like crows. They're not the most endearing birds, but I like them for some reason. Apparently they're quite smart too.

They are incredibly intelligent, you have good taste. They can mimic, they know how to use traffic lights, they carry out vendettas. Awesome birds.

They also handily eat cat sick in my garden, taking the job of cleaning it up off my hands :D

You want to know how I got these scars?
I like bird watching. I usually like to watch as I'm riding my bike along the beachfront... :giggle:

Found one of these but it had been killed by something, I read that other birds mistake them for owls and attack them (why?)

Australian owlet-nightjar or Moth owl

Why because even though nature is beautiful it also cruel.

I have a problem with bird watching. Why does society think it's OK for birds to be objectified? We do not enjoy being watched and photographed when we are just trying to get food or build a nest. Especially for those of us with avian social anxiety, it causes needless stress. Especially this business about disturbing my dead fallen comrades... please, show some respect. I am a strong, independent goose. I'm not some thing to be photographed or shot and put on your plate. I will not stand for it!

Just wondering if there are any other bird watchers here? It's one of my favorite hobbies. I have a seed feeder, a bird bath, and a suet feeder on my deck. I love watching all my little visitors, they always make me smile.

Recently I joined Project Feeder Watch through the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Somehow submitting my bird counts for science makes it even more fun. :)

i actually don't do bird watching, but i'd like to try a day.

Appropriately named, no? :p

I've been wanting to get a picture of one of these guys for years. They're terribly shy. I took those through my kitchen window.
