Och aye the noo

Bloody difficult times to go through. So your father passed away did he?

Aye, he passed away a couple of years ago - May 2012. Ah still think aboot 'em. So ah'm still secretly kinda grieving his loss. Ah often wonder whit oor relationship would've bin like had he actually cared aboot me as much as he did his other kids.

Ah didnae got tae his funeral. Since ah didnae really know ma dad well enough tae feel like ah hud a right tae show up at his funeral... Always, felt ah wuz the one he didnae want. Which would probably explain ma shoulder-shruggin' reaction tae the news of his death.

Plus ah don't huv any memories of ma dad being a part of ma life, except the 8 years between 2003 until 2011. An' those urnie even good yins.

Ah just wish he'd told me the story of when and how he met Noam Chomsky. There were flowers at his grave when I visited a few days efter his funeral along with condolence card signed by Chomsky, Terry Waite, and Heather Mills. Ye think ya know somebuddy...

Ah've kinda bin wonderin' lately if ma mum even wanted tae huv me? Because she huz'nae exactly bin a great parent. At least, for an emotional standpoint. Ah mean, ah love her but she'd didnae exactly treat me the same way.

Too overprotective as well. She even blames herself for how ah've turned out. Well... Hud she not been so overprotective, emotionally distant and allowed me tae grow up, instead of shelterin' me from aw bad things in the world, ah might of turned oot better. Teachin' me to ignore problems instead of facin' them - no' exactly the best advice ye can give yer child, is it?

Also, tellin' me that ah cannae trust anybuddy ootside ma immediate family... Gee! Ah wonder why ah huv great difficulty makin' friends!

It seems tae be a recurring theme in ma life that ah git treat like shite and tolerate it. Coz it still happens to me now, but ye see it'd be oot uh character fur me tae say anythin' because ah'm like that.

Rarely, will ye hear or see me doin' summit oot uh character... Unless ye really piss me off, of course. :sarcastic:

Not in a particularly good place the noo, y'know mentally an' emotionally speakin'. Actually, ah feel quite frustrated wi' masel'... Or mair tae the point, ma inability tae stand up fur masel'. It's jist... Ah don't know, really. It's difficult tae pit intae words how ah'm feelin'. Ah suppose ah'm just as, if not more, responsible fur allowin' masel' tae be treat badly, if that makes sense? :idontknow:

Nae confidence in masel', really. It's awfy depressin'...

Sorry, words an' thoughts didnae come oot in a coherent, order wi' me. Probably why ah dinnae talk much.

Hello Graeme, I just want to say thank you for sharing your stories, I've really enjoyed reading them (which I have been doing on and off throughout the day).

Having read the thread throughout the day, I noticed your more down days come after recalling something from your past. This happens to me too. I'll recall something from years ago and it will be stuck in my head for days. After a few days of thinking of all the shite that has happened and all the things I wished I had (have) the guts to do, I will sink into a depressed state that can last a few days to a few weeks. My poor mum must find it exhausting living me lol. Aaanywho, as shitty as the after effects are, it can be quite thereputic to get it out there in the open, be it good memories or bad.

I take it from what you've said, you couldn't sit down with either your mum or your older sister and say how the situation with your sister is making you feel?

Sorry to hear you had a crappy relationship with your dad, he sounds like a hard man and if he didn't appreciate the good man you had become without him, then more fool him.

I hope I haven't offended you with anything I have said, I'm not used to talking, (in life or via the internet) to people. This is my very 1st attempt at any kind of website lol. 23 and a forum virgin, who'd have thunkd it, eh haha.

Sorry to waffle on. I can't wait to read more of your thoughts and memories, believe you are NOT boring.

Och, it's nae bother... Y'know whit ah mean like? Wait... Ye mean youse lot actually understood me when ah write in Scots?

Aye, well ah suppose wi' me it's mair the fact, ah kinda think aboot whit ah should've done in whatever moment/situation. Y'know, handlin' stuff better or standin' up fur masel'. Though, ma mum must find me a total pain in the arse tae live wi' - but ye cun same the same thing aboot hemorrhoids...

Aaanywho, as shitty as the after effects are, it can be quite thereputic to get it out there in the open, be it good memories or bad.

Aye, that true. Better than huvin' it in yer heid aw the time. Plus, the good memories can be a right laugh, sometimes.

I take it from what you've said, you couldn't sit down with either your mum or your older sister and say how the situation with your sister is making you feel?
No' withoot it aw bein' ma fault. An' them cryin' sayin' that I'm "...always pickin' on them". Right, basically, if ah think your wrong or ah hightlight a flaw in yer character... - Eh? Naw, ah dinnae need a marker pen, yer awright. :sarcastic: Ah know, most uh these jokes're jist fur ma amusment. Funny that, innit? - I'm the ones who being a arsehole, and I'm in the wrong, ah've misunderstood.

Ah mean, the honest thing tae would be tae admit yer mistake, instead o' dancin' aroon the issue like Michael Flatley takin' a soberty test.*

* (Ah wonder how many on here got that joke..?)

Sorry to hear you had a crappy relationship with your dad, he sounds like a hard man and if he didn't appreciate the good man you had become without him, then more fool him.

Hard man, ma dad? Physically intimidatin' presence, aye. But ah've got an accent that sounds like ah'm gonnae beat the shite oot o' ye, even when being friendly. That's what the Scottish accent sound like on guy. On a lassie, the Scottish accent sounds either adorable, sexy or somewhat confused. The only time it's every tense is when she says: "Whit d'ye mean by that, exactly?"

But, ah digress... Ah think ma relationshp with ma dad failed because he arrogantly felt like ah owed him. When he owed me more than £30 or £50 he'd gave as Christmas or birthday present. And condoms for ma 18th birthday. Yep! Seriously, but ah didnae ask if they were one size fits all.

I hope I haven't offended you with anything I have said, I'm not used to talking, (in life or via the internet) to people. This is my very 1st attempt at any kind of website lol. 23 and a forum virgin, who'd have thunkd it, eh haha.

Ah'm no' use tae talkin' in real life or online either. So ah cun relate, yer not alone there, pal. Ah know that ma posts on here cun make it seem otherwise. But really, ah'm stutterin', nervous wreck when ah talk in real life. Honestly, ah'm like a junkie playin' Jenga...

And you've not offended me at all, mate. If ah wuz, ah'd let ye know. Because Scottish people are like that. If we don't like somethin', we'll tell ye.

"Whit d'ye make o' that then, Tam?"
"Shite! Pish! Wank! Honestly, Jimmy, ah'm speechless"

or... If yer partical tae some o' the mair profane language use by Scots?

"See you? Ah think you're a c _ n t, by-the-way"
"Aye, well... Ah think yer a c _ n t anaw, ya screwy lookin' basturd!"
"Och, yer awright. C'mere, fancy a pint?"

^ That's the closest 2 Scots get to be diplomatic.

Sorry to waffle on.

Didnae apologies fur wafflin' on. Huv ye seen half ma post here? F**kin' hell, there's like a f**kin' novel half the time. Rhythmically, that 2nd swear-word wuz'nae really needed, but f**k it! Ah'll leave as it is, it reads better.

I can't wait to read more of your thoughts and memories, believe you are NOT boring.

Thanks fur that wee compliment... Cheers! :brindis: Fawlty Towers.

Whit d'ye want tae hear me waffle on aboot next? Ah've got a few high school memories that might be slightly amusing fur youse involvin' me being socially anxious around ma peer group and those of the female persuasion.

Or ah can tell youse aboot that time ah very nearly f**ked up Janeane Garofalo's debut stand-up comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, by sayin' summit ah shouldnae huv said out loud.

The 3 options is more deeply embarrassin' photos of me... Smiling handsomely.

Ah've bin thinkin' aboot readin' some o' Irvin Welsh's Scottish literary gems. But ah feel it might be a bit late in the game tae start being addicted tae heroin. Don't know if ah could afford tae sustain a drug habit on disability benefit.

Anyway, sick jokes aside, ah um thinkin' aboot it - reading Irvish Welsh's novels, that is. No' fundin' ma ain drug habit. Jist so we're clear on that... :giggle:

Ah've bin wantin' tae dae this fur a while noo. But, last time ma sister implied that ah'd look stoopid wi' nae hair on ma heid. But ah've dinnae gie a f**k whit she thinks anymair. So ah've finally gone an' done it... Ah've shaved it aw off! Feels great, so it does.

Ah know ah should probably feel good aboot shavin' ma heid, but... Ah jist feel as though ah've brought mair unwanted attention tae masel'. Ah mean, ah'm glad tae finally be rid o' ma hair - coz ah was startin' tae go bald anyway. :idontknow:

Aside fae that, ah've kinda came tae the depressing realisation that - considering how ah git treated - ma family're no' as nice as they let on... They seem tae enjoy belittlin' me fur no' bein' like them. It's awright, it's summit ye git used to. Jist makes being around them an uncomfortable, miserable and frustratin' experience.

Ah've been feelin' really down, lately. Depression's gittin' the better of me. Ah jist feel... Meh! Unlikeable, no' worthy o' anybuddy's time, y'know? But then, ah find hard tae believe aw the positive qualities that folk tell me ah huv... Because ah don't think ah've got any. Well, mibbe a few. :idontknow: Sorry, ah know, ah should probably be a bit mair "look on the bright side", but... I'm Scottish.

Ah wish ah genuinely didnae care so much whit people think o' me.

Feelin' kinda naff at the moment - no' great... Ah don't know. Ma self-confidence is kinda non-existent. Ah feel lost... Overwhelmed by this constantly feelin' that ah need tae please everyone. Is that because ah wuz such a huge academic disappointment tae ma dad - and tae ma family in general? :idontknow: Sorry, ah've jist bin feelin' really depressed, lately. And worried aboot how ah'll cope if ma cerebral palsy gits worse - which it probably will, in a few years time. Also this might seem really weird tae say but ah miss the person ah used to be...

There's a couple ae topics - actually let make that three - that ah'd like tae discuss in this thread which relate tae me...

 • Disability
 • Growing up mixed-race
 • Cultural Identity

But it's gonnae be kinda... difficult fur me tae talk aboot. Fae an emotional point, because ah feel these 3 topics - or rather the issues surroundin' them - huv had quite an impact on me as person.

Though, considerin' ah'm no' that educated, ah don't really know how tae approach talkin' aboot those 3 things, in the proper way. Is it worth sharin' ma insights on these, or.... Y'know? Would ye rather ah telt youse another wee midly amusing story fae ma school years?

Ah dinnae want this thread tae become overly depressin' tae read - because ma recent posts huv bin exactly that... Anyway, let me know whit youse think? Since ah feel kinda lost the noo. And me withoot a map tae... :sarcastic:

Ah wonder whit'll be like on Friday morning... Independence or business as usual? Either way some c*nts will'nae be happy this weekend.

Ah don't know, man. Patriotically, ah'm sayin' "Aye", but ma currently money situations says "Naw".

And part uh me's gan: "Mon, it'll be a guid laugh..." :giggle:

Ah think ah'll go watch Transpotting and Braveheart back-tae-back. Y'know, make sure we've thought this through.

Eh, jist the bagpipes. Cannae git ma hands on a claymore at such short notice. :giggle: It'll be a close vote, fur sure.

Though ah think ah'll breck oot ma Royal Scot Dragoon Guard CD of bagpipe music and blast on ma stereo on Friday mornin' IF it's a Yes vote. :) Yin things fur sure, Scotland will'nae be the same again, either way efter September 18th.

I think your thread should be about you. If you want to share, then I think people will listen. Then later, if you want to tell a joke, that would be nice too. Just be you and spill your guts, lol! This should be a worry free zone where you can speak your mind.
