  • that's good you got a cheap one.
wish pianos were cheap. usually a minimum of a few thousand for a decent one >_<
but they last a very long time if taken care of properly, which it seems a lot of people dont do. they dont tune it, they're rough with it. the piano at my parent's house belonged to my great grandmother and it's in great condition. the pianos at most places i go to are barely playable to me - out of tune, broken keys that stick, dirty, and just horrible sounding. makes me sad.
    Hi, thanks for asking :)

At least in Sydney Australia, its very multicultural, so the stereotypes no longer applies to all. There may be white people who act the stereotype, but they don't represent the major population at all. Different suburbs often have a majority of its people from certain regions of the world.
Yiruma is a modern korean composer. not a classical composer (i dont play much classical stuff). his stuff is just very pretty, peaceful sounding, beautiful.

cool cool. i love acoustic guitar. i think my favorite instruments to listen to are cellos, violas, violins. i'd love to learn viola, but those instruments are painful to learn, because it just sounds like a dying cat until you learn how to play well. at least with piano and guitar it sounds nice even if you dont know what you're doing.
You have the albums between 1997 - first half of 2000s then. They are good albums, I like especially Cryptic Writings. She-wolf and Trust are great songs. Yeah, they have many albums, takes a while to listen to them all. I still did not hear their latest album.

Likewise, I love meaningful lyrics. It was actually what made me like metal, first. Many diverse lyrics. With heavier music it goes great.

So, do you like metal music in general or only megadeth?
And yer point about there not being many high-profile people from Scotland, Ireland or Wales in the media, TV or film, ah quite agree, with exception to the examples you gave. And an honourable mention for Colin Farrell, Liam Neeson and Robert Carlyle. And, eh, Kirsty Wark, since you mentioned Huw Edwards.

Though, ah think the reason for there not being as many high profile Scots, Irish or Welsh people in the media is due to the accents being a bit hard to understand at times has a lot to do with it. Particular with Scots unapologetically speaking and writing in their native dialect. Not to mention the, eh, cultural stereotypes...
The fact Peter Capaldi was allowed to keep his Scottish accent for the role of the Doctor is a plus for me, and something I really wish David Tennant had been allowed to do. Because it just added something extra to the humour of the show.

I don't know if you've watched much of Doctor Who since Capaldi to over the lead role - the end of Series 8 and the inital episodes of the new series, in particular? But I thought Michelle Gomez was brilliant and stole the show as Missy - totally daft and hysterically funny. She had some great one-liners.
I take it that yer not all that keen on the level of violence in TV shows and movies? Not much of a horror movie fan, then? Sorry, I'm just asking cuz the deaths in Doctor Who are pretty tame compared so other TV shows on the go nowadays.

That said, I'm just as put off by the level of violence in most TV shows or movies nowadays, myself. And ye mentioned it... Aye, ah do like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. Though, I've been a fan ever since I saw him in the movie Local Hero, so I might be a wee bit biased. :giggle:
As far as getting out and about, it's kinda difficult for me at the moment, especially having to go place in my electric wheelchair. Which isn't that as great as it's cracked up to be, truth be telt.

It's mainly having factor in how I get on and off the pavement. What with some kerbs being higher than others, and some not even being sloped. So there's a risk of either blowing out a tyre or tipping myself outta my chair. Oh, and people seem a reluctant to move out the way when they see me pelting it down the street at full speed. But all that might change if the multiple surgeries, hopefully go well next year. And I can get out and about on crutches.
i like a lot of stuff by the composer Yiruma. i also like "to Zanarkand" from final fantasy X, "Always with me" from Spirited Away. i like pretty sounding stuff.
what kind of music are you wanting to learn on guitar?
My favorite songs are My Last Words, Washington is Next, Holy Wars, Black Swan (the 13 version). I mostly like the lyrics of their songs, and the rhytms. But I am not a fan of them, though it is one of the bands I like listening. Rust in Peace is an exception, though, that album is a masterpiece.

What about you? What are your favorite songs of them?
Other than that, I don't really get caught up in all the hype and excitement. Mainly because I don't want my expectations to be so high, that I risk being disappointed. Due to looking forward to it so much - be it a movie or TV. I'm also wary when something get recommended to me by someone else.

As for most people I meet, I tend to be quite guard due to past experiences of being taken advantage of. I don't really connect with anyone on a deep level a majority of the time anyway, even within my family. So, I'm quite content with being my own a lotta the time.
Yeah I'm vaguely familiar with the series Mad Men, so know who Christina Henricks is. Haven't really watched that series enough to give an opinion on it, though.

I'm kinda like you, in that I don't get overly excited about a lotta things as some people tend to do. As for new films or TV shows, I'm more cynical than excited about most of them, honestly. Since they tend to get hyped up to the nines.

I think the last TV series I got really excited about seeing was Doctor Who, when the revival series was initally announced ten years ago. A more recent example would probably be the upcoming Star Wars movies - but that's nostagia driven that anything, having grown up watching the original and special edition version of the trilogy as well as the first movie of the prequels.
Hi. Sorry I've been late in replying here.

I felt the same way you did about 2 Broke Girls, initally. Though, I kinda stuck with it, due the ironic, risque humour. And Kat Denning doesn't fail to make me laugh-out-loud with some of the one-liners. And, as you said, she's gorgeous, too. ;)

I saw the trailer for the Dad's Army film, recently. Heard about long before, though. It might be good, they definitely seem to have got the cast right in terms of casting to suit the original characters. The potental is definitely there, but I can't say I'm looking forward to seeing, like excited. It's more seeing it outta curiousity for me, more than anything else.
Yeah, the original Thunderbird series has held up surprising well. And it was kinda ahead of it's time in a way when you look at some of the visual affects sequences.

And I was very much of the same opinion as you with Captain Scarlett. The original series, as with Thunderbirds, had certain charm to it, but going the of CGI animation was far better.

As far re-watching old shows, it'd have to something I haven't seen in years, like a show usef to watch as a kid. Or, with more recent shows, it's more a case of having not watched it for awhile. In other words, if I haven't marathoned it and watched a whole series worth of DVD boxset in the space of single weekend, there's a chance another viewing at some point.

See we have similar tastes in comedy, there. I'm not a huge fan of Big Bang Theory, though. I prefer 2 Broke Girls, myself.
That said, I did really like The Avengers: Earth's Mightest Heroes more than Avengers Assemble. Still have got around to watching Agents of SMASH, though.

As for Thunderbirds, I still love the original series but haven't gor around to buying the DVD set of it. Was quite big of Gerry Anderson's shows growing, particularly Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlett. I didn't actually watch that new CGI version of Thunderbirds, was it any good?
I haven't really been watching many TV shows, lately. Cartoons or otherwise. Just haven't had the time or concentration. What with me having other things on my mind at the monemt.

The only cartoon series I've been watching and enjoy, recently, is Star Wars Rebels. It's definitely better than what I thought it was going to be, just a good as The Clone Wars series that preceded it.

I've seen a couple of episode of the newer Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but wasn't fairly taken by. The story could be great, for all I know. But it's just the character design don't exactly look great to me. Ot could've been better, lets' say.

And I still kinda prefer the 2003 series and animated series from late 80s/early 90s. Don't know if that just nostalgia, more than anything? Same with Ultimate Spider-Man, it might be actually good if I gave it a enough of a chance? But I haven't really gotten into the Spider-Man or X-Men series, post 1998.
As far as the surgery goes, there's definitely been improvement since I last went under the knife. Though, last time, it was the after patient care that was lacking. They couldnae wait to get me up and out the door. Looking back on it, why they thought my sister driving me home would be fine is beyond me. I mean I did have one leg in a full cast, hardly idea to be sat in the front seat of a car.

I'll be getting it done on the NHS, I don't have the money to go private. But I am getting it done locally, so I won't be go all the way to Edinburgh and stay over night before getting the surgery.
Just noticed you posted a reply here about the surgery that was meant to be posted on my profile. I kind nervous about it, more the procedure and afterwards. What with the possible 6 weeks I could be off my feet and the year long rehab. Since I'm getting multiple operation and a right-knee replacement.

Though, I'm really glad the procedure won't require breaking any bones in my feet, as I was initially told when I went in to discuss the surgery. That very nearly put me off agreeing to it. And I won't be in full plaster like the last surgery I had.

As far as waiting for things I want, I tend to be more patient and less impulsive, anyway. At least I have as I've gotten older. I tend to weight up the pros and cons before making a definite decision, especially something like this surgery that's going to change things for me. And I think in this case delayed gratification is better in the long term than rushing things
Hi. I actually haven't bought any comic series in quite a while, myself. That Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles annual of original issues would be the last series I bought. I've kinda been trying to save up at the moment, so I haven't really been treating myself too much. My sister gave me a Planet of the Apes collectable comic, first edition US print, because she'd already had it without realising.

Haven't really bought any comics on a weekly basis, due to newsagents not always getting the latest issues of Marvel, DC or 2000AD in every week. I'd opt for buying them online but I'd probably go a bit of spending spree. I would've also got a few comics while I was in Edinburgh during the festival last month. I noticed a comic book store just as my sister and I were driving through the town one day trying to find one of the venues we'd never been to before. But we'd only bought enough money to cover our stay there for the month and not enough to splurge on comics.
Hi.Being nervous about the surgery makes sense I guess. Are you worried about it not or working or the procedure itself.

Waiting for things you want its tricky for me too at times.I try to copy myself with other things and keep my mind occupied. Will power, delaying of gratification are interesting things in general I think.
