  • The chatbox feels empty without its trickster. My royal subjects are beginning to get bored.
((hugs)) sounds like you had a bad day? holidays can probably do that to people yikes... (luckily it's not a national holiday in my country...) firecrackers can probably be bad too... Anyway, hoping it gets better!! (Or that at least things calm down after the holidays?)
So slowly. I can walk on it, but its still hurting. I may have to chew the foot off soon. :p
Nah, no fights. I've just read enough to know that they use their feet more than their beaks, and they calm down if they can't see.

Of course, their beaks are designed to tear flesh....
Good luck. And if s/he does decide to kick your butt, grab its ankles. Or throw your shirt over it and run away.

Just make sure you get a picture first, or you'll have to do it all over again. ;)
Sorry for the delay. I was feeding the mosquitoes down south for the past 2 nights/3 days.

I can answer your question with some of my own. What color(s) was it? Where was it? And how was it flying?

The basic ones it could be are: red-tailed hawk, turkey vulture, or Cooper's hawk. It could be something else, but those are 3 of the most common. But the habitat (or just the area where you've seen it) and the behavior are some of the ways to identify hawks without pics.

Here is a list of all the birds that have been seen in NJ with links to Wiki pages for them. The sections you want are New World vultures; Kites, eagles, harriers, and hawks; and Caracaras and falcons. They're all on the fourth line in the first paragraph of links in the table of contents. So have a look, and see if any of those look familiar.

The 1000 character limit prevents me from typing too much. Lucky you. :D
I read where you said you love eating Beef Jerky now. So does that mean you love it more than Oreos now!?:D
Really!? Wow, they would have a greater chance of getting scratched from thorns/branches etc and stung by bees/wasps with more skin available! LOL::p: hmmm, they would also have to worry in Summer about getting sunburnt in sensitive places! ouch!:D
