Well I hope you never get bitten by a rat. Their teeth are long enough that the bite just keeps bleeding for several minutes. Luckily I've never been bitten by a gerbil or a mouse.
But I did flip a dwarf hamster out of her cage when she bit me years ago. She must've latched on pretty good, because when my hand drew back and up automatically she went flipping out of her cage and onto the floor. She was okay, but I felt terrible about it.
In a way, dog bites are preferable. More crushing and less poking with needle-like fangs.
