I don't feel safe

I see all this bad stuff going on in the world and it petrifies me. I live in Canada and it's been said to be the most respected country, yet I don't feel safe being beside USA. I don't have anything wrong with Americans it's just I feel uncomfortable having them at my borders. Then I hear all these negative talks of wars and everything and I fear even more. I just wish everyone could live in harmony I'm tired of worrying about the world. I used to have panic attacks every night cause of this same reason and it stopped for a few months. I began to focus on my life, now I am back to panic attacks regularly every night. I avoid the news but so many people in my class and stuff talk about it all the time.

Hey, Dannyboy,

I know how you feel. I do that relating to climate change every now and then.

I guess its what we put our intention to - that our brain path flows to. And that movie with Will Smith and his son (that sci-fi one) I remember a quote in that about how what we fear is not actually reality. It has the potential to be or to not be, but its not actually real. That quote has helped me sometimes.

But I get how you feel. Esp with the election at moment. I try to tune out and focus on things that are coming to conscience at the moment. For me, as I worry ( I dont have panic attacks tho) regarding climate change at least- I think about how popular veganism is atm and conservational efforts and clean energy and people's evolving newways of living with farmers markets and bicycle riders, new cars etc.. I see so many good things coming to fashion that I never thought would actually be on trend in the past.

I look at Leonardo Dicaprio and how much an effort and how much he has and is helping to stop so many environmental disasters.

I think there is always a potential for bad things to happen like wars and economy downs- but there is also potential for good things too.

Also, when bad things happen - from my experience - sometimes they arent even as bad as we think. That we are usually always braver and more adaptable than we thought and bad things can be broken down into a spectrum of colours and not just black and white you know.

I used to worry about climate change a lot but for some reason stopped in the past few months. Although it still does scare me. For the current moment though I'm just scared of so much. I just hate how everyone focuses on the bad. I know there is still a lot of good in the world just people don't see it or listen to it.

I don't have anything wrong with Americans it's just I feel uncomfortable having them at my borders.

I have never thought Canadians are scared of us and want to keep us out of Canada...
So we are you version of Germans or Russians..North Koreans?!?
Makes sense I suppose.

I don't mean it that way. I'm not scared of American's I'm just scared because of everything that happens to them is so close to my home. Also this whole election is not helping the case cause the election scares a lot of people here.

I can imagine how you feel, Danny. It's been an ugly campaign season, and things are about to get worse. I can only hope that whatever happens here as a result of the election will not spill over our borders into your country and the rest of the world.

That's what scares me. I trust our prime minister Justin Trudeau because he has already pulled out troops out of all the combat zones and he's allowing immigrants to come and live here. He is also supporting gay rights and equality. I trust him to stay out of it, I just hope Canada doesn't get involved.

I avoid the news too due to possible avpd but what my parents are telling me about this election is scaring me to death especially about healthcare.

Worst case scenario we might have to flee across your borders because of the newly instituted ethnic cleansing.

Don't forget that the fears of Dannyboy aren't necessarily shared by the rest of the canadian people. I doubt that canadians in general see you as a threat.

I think your best bet would be not to watch the news too much and just do your best for yourself and the people around you/your community. That way, you're doing your part to make the world a better place.

I've been trying but its so hard to avoid news it always pops up some how. I'm actually going to school to be an RCW so I will be helping the elderly when I am done. So I think that counts.

Sooo, I'm hearing that the site to apply for immigration to Canada has overloaded and crashed. How IS the weather up there anyway?

Yea I heard that too. People up here are in shock that USA was so stupid to elect Donald Trump. No one up here supported him one bit. He's a racist, sexist *******. So I don't see me going anywhere in the USA for 4 years at least. Many Canadians here are actually saying they are not going down there.

Also about the weather I kid you not the radio said today we will have sun while the south of our border is pretty dark xD

The fact that the world is messed up shouldn't give you panic attacks... have you ever thought about seeing a therapist to talk about this?

lol there are lots of spiders here, I keep my room clean but every once in a while I have one landing on my arm from a web on the ceiling... They don't even make nests and cobwebs around the corners before going around exploring, it's so annoying.

Anyway, I think it's important for dannyboy to understand that it's not normal or healthy to have panic attacks because of politics, and he shouldn't just accept that as part of his life. Even if there is reason to be concerned, which honestly there is not in his case, he is as safe as anyone can get living in Canada.

I live in one of the most violent countries in the world, the number of murders and violent crimes here always outnumber the ones from countries with wars going on like Iraq and Syria, and even for me it would make no sense to have panic attacks over it. I mean, our police is inefective, our justice system is a joke and it's illegal to have guns for defending your life, which means what's keeping me alive is the mercy of the thugs, or rather the fact that I don't have much to give them anyway so I'm not worth the trouble, but even so, having panic attacks would only make my life worse.
