Day 1
2 rounds of toast (low fat butter)
2 cups of coffee (no sugar/low fat milk)
Healthy tikka masala curry
Orange
Plum
Alka Seltzer (because the curry was doing a conga in my colon)

Thank you, Weirdy :)

You don't haft to use low fat butter and low fat milk, if anything it might have the opposite effect.

I understand what you are saying, Valhalla. Reading between the lines, I think you are telling me I should start my diet tomorrow. If you insist, I will have that juicy burger and a large plate of fries.....Or I could look at the food picture thread and drool.

Uuuh ... ? I don't follow you. I gave a sincere advice that's part of a diet. A way of eating which I'm also following. Just trying to be helpful here ...

I appreciate that you were being sincere. If I came across as insincere, then I apologize. I guess my quirky sense of humour can sometimes be mistaken for insincerity.

Wow, well done! Nice weight loss, mate.

I'm weighing myself tomorrow morning. I should post results, if there is any, then.

This thread made me realize how much I should really try to lose weight again. My medicine made me gain weight and it won't come off. That will change.

Dw, conspiracy to the rescue!
It's not difficult to lose weight, you just need two very important things
1. Motivation
2. The proper workout routine

I can help any of you with both if you want. Here are some exercises you should try
Do Squats. If you're really overweight, start with 10. Take a 30 second break after doing 10, then do 10 more. Repeat this 3 times everyday. If your leg muscles are sore the next day, then take that day off and go back to your routine the next day
Plank. This is one of the simplest and most effective exercise for losing weight. Combine this with squat, and you'll lose weight in no time. Do planks for 30 seconds, 3 times, with a minute break between each.
Jogging. If some of you are already jogging, there's a great way to gain the most from it. When you jog, do it like this. Sprint > jog > sprint > jog >sprint > jog. This gets you the most from your run

And now for motivation
Two Steps From Hell - King's Legion - YouTube
Two Steps From Hell - Chopperhead - YouTube

Bodybuilding Motivation - The more you do , the more you get (Muscle factory) - YouTube
Bodybuilding Motivation - Don't pray for easy life (MuscleFactory) - YouTube

Hope I helped! You can pm me or anything if you'd like some extra help :)

You're just trying to lose weight right? If you're just lifting weights and getting the proper protein intake with it, you'll start building on some pounds instead of losing them

Some tips/advice:

1) Stop drinking soda, iced tea, or drinks that are heavily sweetened. Opt for water of seltzer. If you drink, say, 4 cans of soda per day, that's already 520 extra calories you're shedding. Instead, have water or seltzer water (flavored is okay.) If you're in the U.S., chances are a lot of your foods are sweetened with HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). There are some studies linking this to larger amounts of fat around the waist.

2) Opt for whole grains instead of white breads. Most white foods are starches and turn to sugar the second they hit your blood stream. Whole grains are better for your heart and arteries.

3) Drink a glass of water before a meal. This will take up some space in your stomach so that you'll eat less.

4) Eat slower and savor your meals. The quicker you eat, the more you eat.

5) If you're fond of salad, watch your salad dressings. If you're fond of chips, try to switch to baked or kettle-cooked ones.

None of this is really ground-breaking advice. If you're trying to switch from, say, soda to water, do it gradually. It's difficult to go cold-turkey.

Also, be smart about this. Don't cut your caloric intake from 3,500 calories to 1,500. Your body will try to hold onto weight. Keep in mind 1,200 calories is considered the absolute minimum the body needs to function. Most adults need closer to 2,000 calories, but usually slightly more. I will say, though, I feel healthier since I've stopped consuming soda and caffeine. Some of my sleeping problems have been alleviated and/or eradicated. Small setbacks are normal and to be expected. Just saddle back up. Finally, I find it's okay to indulge every once in a while, as it helps cut back on cravings.

Finally, a disclaimer. I'm not a doctor. All of this information is available on the internet. Be careful, be smart. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about your health and starting a diet.

I'm doing most of these anyway. I don't drink soft drinks anyway so I am at an advantage. Go me. ::p:

Recovering from setbacks is a MAJOR problem for me. I need to work on that big time.

I weighed myself this morning and I lost 1kg in a week. I'm down to 88.5kg (195.1lb). I'm very happy with my progress! Soon I'll be down to 86kg, which was my weight in 2010 before I started piling it on.

I'm still eating pizza and chocolate, too, so the key is definitely moderation.

Try switching gears. Instead of getting regular pizza, try the "grandma's" variety. It's fresh tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella. It's lower in calories, and a fair number of places carry whole wheat varieties nowadays.

Chocolate is a little more difficult, but you can get the Dove dark chocolate "promises." They're individually wrapped, so you can try to moderate.

As I mentioned above, it's okay to give in every so often. I try to eat really clean, but every few days I'll feel like a cookie and eat a small serving of them and then move on. It takes discipline, but you can do it, my friend.

There's a gourmet pizza place around here that does really nice pizzas, so I'll likely keep ordering from there. However, if I want a greasy, salty Domino's pizza, I will have it. :)

Same with chocolate. I do like dark chocolate, but sometimes milk or white is what I want, and I will eat that instead.

I know I can do it, but I have to keep my head in order. I'm glad you are disciplined enough to make it all happen, too. :)

Good Job Mikey - you are doing well :)
Thank you, Kia. :) I'm not going to lie: there have been a few times where I have questioned what I'm doing, and I've wanted to binge on chocolate, but weighing myself on a weekly basis is actually doing me some good. Seeing the decreasing numbers is helping, because my stomach looks exactly the same. If I was going by that alone, I would've probably given up.

Not if I am in a calorie deficit, lifting weights is fun and helps me burn a lot of energy on the weekends.
I love lifting weights but the trouble is that I want to to too many exercises and is hard to do a routine like that.
