Do you think you have a "good" sense of humour?

This topic reminds me of bullies I have had to deal with. They often like to be seen as "king" or "queen" of comedy and don't like losing the limelight to others who like to make people laugh. Or they don't like humour at all unless it is some kind of perverted version of laughing at others' shortcomings. Also I've found it is best to keep your humour to yourself around bullies because they are using their radar to find fault with you and something to pick on, so better to clam up.

I have a fairly good sense of humour, but around strangers I get a bit reluctant to laugh at anything the most I can manage is a smile.

I don't think there is an objective "good".

People who share a similar sense of humour will think each other's sense good, whereas people who don't might find each other's trying.

I think some people are proud of their humour. Perhaps in some cases it may be "high brow" or "intellectual".......they look down on slapstick for instance. Just my observation.

1:24-2:30 is pure brilliance. The first time I watched it, I almost choked on my drink.

Truthfully, I can be a little snobbish about my tastes in humor. But it is usually born out of an argument. My dad will say that Two and a Half Men is the funniest show on TV and I will respectfully and loudly disagree. He'll say that my favorite comedies (30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, etc.) are stupid and I'll call him stupid and we get nowhere. :) I have been broadening my horizons, though. For me, it just depends on how well the comedy is done. Lucille Ball was amazing at slapstick. Not a lot of people are these days IMHO. I love dirty humor as much as I love "intelligent" humor, but I don't like it when either is telegraphed so that you can see it coming a mile away. I think I can appreciate most forms of humor when they are done correctly. Half assed comedy isn't funny to me. It's just a lazy attempt to get me to giggle and I'm not going to give in. You have to earn my giggles!

yeah you're right. that part is quite hilarious about "myface" instead of "myspace"....after that it gets quite heavy doesn't it...I mean it's not a topic you can poke fun at too much is it!....sons going off to war with worried out their mind mums waiting at home.

A lot of humor I get it and I find it interesting to listen to it just does not make me laugh. I can sit down and watch comedy shows and comedians and find them a joy to watch but rarely have they made me fall over with my stomach hurting. Not many shows can do that to me either. It has to be THE JOKE....for me

Although, I laugh at stupid things. You can look and stare at me funny and I can fall over in tears. I have a friend that likes to swing his head and mumble to every single song that comes on. I can not help but to crack up every time. I'm laughing about it right now. I know he's serious :-(. I don't do it to make fun of. I can't help it.

When people tell a joke and no-one laughs....I laugh! I laugh because everyone else is silent looking at this person cockeyed. No matter how stupid I think the joke was! Peoples expressions and reactions get to me.

Makes absolute sense - just like pretty much everything else in the world humour is completely subjective.

I have always had a thing for puns but I can find a lot of different things funny. I enjoy curb your enthusiasm, seinfeld and other forms of observational comedy. I have never been able to understand why two and a half men is so popular - I dont find that funny at all... that show is just lame to me. Has anyone seen Bob Sagets stand up routine... painful. Overcompensating for the past methinks.

I was gonna make a gay joke here... butt **** it.

I'm with you on that one. Call me a snob but I just can't get into a show which is the same joke repeated every week.(just variations on a theme)

Fawlty Towers. I've seen it about 20 times and it still makes me laugh. Every episode. One thing that makes me laugh is Basil's relationship with his wife. She is so competent and and he is so useless. Maybe I identify with him!!

I have really black or blunt humor usually. So I never usually use it with people until Iget to know them. I hate 'jokes' though.

I dont know if its good or bad. I laugh a lot. And a lot of times its stuff I'm not supposed to laugh at. I generally find irritating things hysterically funny. ....I find a lot of normal stuff funny. I don't find sitcoms funny and I dont find so called comedies funny. Old people always crack me up though. They do/say the funniest things.

Yep I do. I'm always trying to make people laugh. I even make myself laugh when I look back at my jokes. I'm not THAT funny though. I have a weird sense of humor along with weird antics.
