The unanswered questions of the universe

Say you dug a hole all the way through the center of the Earth, and jumped in, would you just stop at the center and stay there because of gravity?

Technically, yes. But not instantly.

First you go to the center, then pass it due to momentum you build up, you'd now be heading to the surface again (on the other side of the planet). Gravity would then pull you back towards the center causing you to loose momentum. Eventually you'd fall back to the center and repeat the process. You'd loose more and more energy each time you pass, causing you eventually be (relatively) stationary in the center.

Of course in reality you wouldn't be able to it because you'd be killed several ways (warmth, oxygen and perhaps even G-force), but when only considering the origin of gravity, this is what'd happen.

If I connect a cable from the USB socket on my laptop to the laptop's own power connector, will I have a magically self-powering computer that will run forever?

1) What is the answer to life, the universe and everything?

Couldn't resist quoting The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, haha, but I think it's really neat that when you Google this question, the answer is 42.

To quote Hitchhiker again: “There is a theory which states that if ever for any reason anyone discovers what exactly the Universe is for and why it is here it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another that states that this has already happened.”

2) Why do good people get sent to Hell just for not believing in the right God? (I bet this has been asked tons of times but I've yet to see a reasonable answer from a believer!)

Why is it called a parking lot if you drive through it?
Why is it called a drive way if you park on it?

1) The answer to life, the universe and everything is nonexistent. There is no question, therefore there is no answer. It is pointless. It doesn't matter whether it's there or not.

2) I dont really believe in Hell, but assuming it exists, good people get sent there because the "true" God isn't really all he/she is made out to be and is kind of an ***hole. There are many things that can back this theory up, especially with certain Gods. For example, when that God gets angry he throws a fit and sends plagues and such which kill innocent people too, he wants people to pray to him and worship him yet he doesnt answer everyone's prayers and never shows himself, he holds a grudge for eternity against creatures that HE made, he bribes people with all their greedy desires after they die if they live the way he wants them to live and if not they get sent to perpetual torture and suffering, he wants everyone to follow certain commandments but yet makes it human nature to sin thus inevitably everyone breaks those rules no matter how good they are, he only gives humans souls but none of his other creatures, to name a few.... that God sounds kinda controlling and manipulative dont you think?
(by the way im not trying to offend any religions im just answering the question with the best explanation i can think of, i do respect religious people and they are entitled to their beliefs and opinions as much as i am.)

Why does love hurt?
Not that i'd know, but i read somewhere that basically love is pain in disguise?. That is, pleasure (such as "romantic love") is simply another type of pain.

My unanswerwed question...
I'm still alive. And do i deserve to be?. Is that the question??. And if so, then who answers - W.H.O...A.N.S.W.E.R.S ???

Why we have the "Word association game" and the "New Game!!" threads as different ones? What's the difference? XD

Why don't hire the unemployed (that look for work) to work on Sundays? I mean, I for one think it would be awesome if things like mail services continued all week round.

Excellent idea ! I think it came from the origin of church goers having that day off for rest. What proportion of the population goto church these days? Just laziness. It's time for custom to be brought inline with the times. Don't mind me if I take my sunday walks at 8AM (!!) and tut at the boarded up shutters.
