Do you like to go when it's off-peak
When there's nobody around?
I hate supermarkets, they're not eco..
so I mostly.. don't go *shock shock* if I can help it!!
I LOVE farmer's markets and suchAnd health food/organic stores or homegrown food hehe
yes, i need to do this more. its so hard to find real food at the supermarket
yeah, and UNPACKAGED!!
YAY YOU GO Phocas!! I hope you find some nice places with GREAT food!! It was a really great memory to go to the farmer's market as a little girl already...
Or some cities have options to order 'eco food' (in a box) and they bring it to you on a bicycle! weekly (Okay, some not with a bicycle, but it's eco and sometimes cheaper than on farmer's market too!)
Not too empty because then everyone is looking at you. Not too full because then I almost panic. So somewhere in between when everyone is minding themselves.
we have this in the U.S.:
Community Supported Agriculture - LocalHarvest
you buy a "share" - and you get fresh, locally grown, organic produce and eggs delivered to your home each week - or sometimes you have to go pick it up at the farm or a drop-off point
there are a number of farms near me that do this
I signed up this year
^ I'm actually allergic to cow's milk, lol. But there are a TON of dairy farms around here were you can get it organically, and I wish my family would take advantage of that, but they like the store bought stuff.YAY Coyote, so you ARE eco!!/swoon!!/
Phoenixx, can't you get (organic) milk from a farmer directly? You live in cow country, no?
Or a milk-o-mat? (where you can pour it into your own bottle?)
It took us a while to source organic milk, and some of it is still non-organic, but we get it local, directly from farmers..

The milk I've been drinking lately is almond milk. It's really nice.

^ Yeah I've heard of ways that you could make your own almond milk, but I've never tried it. I should sometime though. I'd think it'd be fun! And cheaper for sure! Interesting how some kids are allergic to milk depending on what the cows were fed. It definitely makes sense, but that's not my case. If only it was.Ah, okay, understood now... You can also get almonds and DIY you know?Might be more cost-effective, depending on how much you drink.. (and less PACKAGE!
)
Yeah, I can't understand some of my relatives either - they have cows and drink store-bought milk, sigh!! It also depends what the cows are fed with etc. (Some kiddies were allergic to milk of cows fed with certain feed, and not to others who were grass-fed!!)
And it depends on whether someone is actually up to the milking biz (old ones too old, young ones don't wanna bother yikes.. and the doctors told them to give store-bought milk to kiddies?? *sigh*)
Anyway, our supermarkets have way too much food from all over the world, I totally prefer local!!
I don't know if we could grow almonds though, hehe...
