What do you think would make the world a less cruel place?

I don't know and I'm certain that a bunch of socially alienated lunatics lack enough understanding of the world to have a meaningful opinion

Too many people are cruel just because they can.
I don't think the world would change unless we all lived in some kind of utopia, that is, it will never happen...

I don't think organised religion helps much.
I don't think so, either. Sometimes I think the intention is there to do good, but some people abuse that. I'm talking a minority, though. I know a whole bunch of Christians who are really nice people.

NO racism.
NO greed.

As far as greed goes though, I don't think it's something that will be bred out of people, like racism...

Yeah, I know a few religious people, some friends, some family who are all wonderful people. It's when people in positions of power abuse it that it becomes problematic and dangerous. Even certain religious texts don't exactly encourage an environment of tolerance - one key ingredient missing from the world today.

Yeah. I heard that Benny Hinn guy is a fraudster, yet he continues to do what he does. Not cool.

That's a very courageous act from Diaz. One thing he said caught me:

"I figure, you know, if you treat people right, you can only hope that they treat you right. It's as simple as it gets in this complicated world."

It's not always that easy. I would imagine this exact same thing would not work if he was mugged by the next guy. Kudos to him, though.

I don't think the world will ever be a less cruel place until we change the human condition. We are a war-like species born with a thirst for violence (those who say they are not violent are just subconsciously suppressing it) due to our nature as predators. Until we can tweak our genetic psychology, there will always be infighting within our species.

Oh - and a little bit more thoughtfulness and insight into understanding other peoples feelings wouldnt go a miss either....
rather than being 'told' that this is the solution to our problems - how about just listening and acknowledging the way that a person is feeling instead? Makes the world of difference.

Nothing can make the world a less cruel place. Nature is cruel. So is human nature.

But it's constantly evolving (human conciousness as well as society). In a slow pace, but it is evolving. Atleast we're beyond the "burning witches" and destroying your neighbouring village-time.

How about learning about the past. A good place to start.

To understand the present, it is important to understand the past. To resolve conflicts and problems, you need to understand the root cause. It is hard to resolve these problems when people disagree with what actually happened.

OR how about we just kill all humans. I'll go first.
