I seen ppl out that I knew and I spoke with them and made jokes and rlly laughed !! I feel like my old self again no bull ****

Hypno works for many people, like yourself Jess. I am glad to see it worked on you btw. Many other's do not have the success from it though. I had some hypnotherapy once, and it did not really work for me. Sure I was pretty relaxed at the time it was done, but that was about it. Not all hypnotise well unfortunately, and I was one of them.

I am doubting this will work for all. There are those, a myth I have not proven truth, who do not believe in hypnosis or hypnotherapy and the result: no effect.

An interesting thought: Would enjoy to entertain a dare and try. Uncertain how to proceed as doctor simply states "try CBT." Well, hmm, yes quite.

I feel almost cured !!! The therapist said I need 1 or 2 more sessions I can already feel a MASSIVE difference :)

Yep, I had a similar experience after my first session with a hypnotherapist. I was put into a dreamlike state, but was still aware of what she was saying. And I let her paint the picture of my dream with some things I added ;) Then when it was over, I woke up feeling refreshed. You ever have one of those days where you wake up with hardly any anxiety at all, like... you had a good night's rest and the chemicals in your brain are finally working? It felt like that and lasted throughout the whole day. Glad to see someone else had a good experience, too...

I tried hypnosis several times but it never worked, despite I tried so much. I can't understand it works with other people.

Curious, did you, as they say, follow into a trance-like state?
Or did you go into the session(s) feeling, knowing it would not work?

Some people struggle to go into the lower alpha frequencies or theta states while awake. It is not necessarily caused by belief, but rather some way the brain is made up that makes it impossible to zone out. In my case it is to do with hightened sensory stimulation. For this reason, I have trouble sleeping while there is any activity around such as tv noise or people talking loudly etc. Even fans (while on) have to be on their lowest setting in order for me to sleep.

Friend of mine did the same thing to stop smoking, and she hasnt smoked now for 8 years !!

Just out of curiosity, how much does each session cost ? and does medicare cover any of it ?
Wouldnt mind trying it for the smoking thing aswell. (maybe get em to throw in a few more issues aswel while im there heh)

Ah, now am I understanding. I would consider myself no master at "zoning" out. Sometimes I am just not there nor here.

Perhaps, then, this may work even though I still think it will not?

Well everyone certainly has the ability to go into the alpha state and there may be some success in hypotherapy even in this state. It is quite easy to tell what sort of level of success you will have, because you can practise relaxing at home. If you can reach a state where there is little thought going through your mind, and you are just totally there in the now, and you can hold this for a large length of time (this is my biggest problem), then you will get the greatest benefits from hypnotherapy. If you have trouble reaching this state, then you might be wasting your time and money in hypnotherapy.

I couldn't enter the trance-like state, just by listening to the hypnotherapist. I was trying to imagine all she said but it was of no use, I was still there and fully conscious. At most I could have fallen asleep, but nothing else. One of them charged a lot of money for one short session and I felt highly disappointed, it was like throwing my week salary from the window. Despite that I went there another time, with the same result. There was another one who said she would do it with me very cheaply and really took the time, but nothing. I also tried that with her several times, and except of that with 2 others. By now I gave up, it will not work. I can imagine it could perhaps work with some drugs but not just by listening to some talking. There was some hypnotherapist who said it depends a lot on the hypnotherapist himself and his power and strong will. I thought I would try it with him but unfortunately he died in a car accident. I was told that by his assistant who said she worked for him as a medium for years (he did some research).

And I don't think it is so that if you believe it will work, it will work and if you don't, it will not. If it's a real thing, it should work no matter what! If it works only on people who believe in it, then it's bullcrap.

This is good to know because one therapist once told me that hypnotherapy is only effective for minor issues like smoking cessation - most people who have been heavy smokers for years will tell you is not a minor issue. I suppose it might be in comparison to anxiety or other psychiatric disorders.

I had thought about trying hypnotherapy a while back, but CBT along with my own efforts have worked just fine for me so...Yet, I wonder if it can help overcome confidence issues? I certainly won't dismiss the positive effects of hypnotherapy especially since you say that it has helped you. Thanks for letting us know. Again, I'm happy to hear that it has given you some relief.

ok well this is my story..

I have been seeing a normal therapist for about 12 sessions so she helped with eliminating negative thought patterns and judgments whilst putting the cbt into practice so I was getting out more etc...I also started to accept myself and I got rid of all my "rules" and silly hang ups, started focusing on other people and other things all this was going well but I still felt as though my scars were too deep and would take a long time to heal properly

I still felt very sad inside and low so I went into hypnotherapy with a very open mind and I was determined I went into a light trance state and I am not one to fall asleep easy or relax but I think because I am that determined and have been putting so much effort in to get better it worked for me I am going for my next session in 2 weeks time so I will keep yous all upto date :)
