The Help - I'd give it 3.75 stars. If you cry at movies, you'll need to bring a huge pack of Kleenex for this one - and you may never want to eat chocolate pie again!

Bridesmaids
- 4 stars because it was hilarious! You'll need the Kleenex for this one 'cause you'll laugh so hard you cry!

I'm assuming these ratings are out of 5, yes? I have not seen The Help yet. I want to read the book first. I've seen the end part of Bridesmaids and it looked pretty good.

I thought this would be a cute movie. I couldn't get through the first half hour of it. I tried several times. It just ain't happening.

Did you guys ever watch Rango?? We couldn't get through the first half hour, it was awful! And, just...creepy weird in a bad way. So much for kids' movies these days.

Unfortunately, I went with friends to see the movie in the theater. I didn't much care for it. It wasn't horrible, but I don't want to see it again. I used to work at a pet store, so I spent the whole movie thinking to myself, "The chameleon shouldn't be the same size as the tortoise! And the iguana and the rattle snake are the same size?! WTF!" So yeah, I was distracted the whole time.

I actually enjoyed Rango. But I think it was aimed at the wrong audience, overall, though. I think Nickelodeon's involvement had most people thinking it'd be a kids' movie. Not to mention the Spaghetti western references - which kids definitely would not get. I think you'd have be familiar with the Spaghetti western genre (or at least seen The Good, The Bad and The Ugly) to find humour in the references.

^ Nope, haven't seen that yet. I heard it was just "okay," but not awful. I'm still up for watching it though. I'm a sucker for animated films. I'm still a bit of a child at heart. :)

I'm familiar. I still think it was awful. ::p:

I'm glad to hear that somebody enjoyed it, though.

Oops - I was using a 4 star rating system! I've heard the book version of The Help is really good, and some say it helps with understanding what's going on in the movie. I haven't read the book but was able to follow the movie just fine though. If you cry at movies, this may be one you want to watch at home!

If you're feeling down and need a good laugh, then definitely watch Bridesmaids! Melissa McCarthy steals the show - she is HILARIOUS!!!

I also just saw New Year's Eve today. It was about 2.5 out of 4 stars. Funny, but nothing all that special!

Yeah I enjoyed the movie references, although I agree that they would have been totally lost on most of the target audience. (I really liked the "Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas" reference near the beginning. :))

Evan Almighty - 5/10

It started out pretty good in the beginning, but quickly went downhill from there. Bruce Almighty is much better, although I'm not a huge fan of that film either. If it wasn't for Wanda Sykes, this movie probably would've gotten a much lower rating from me. ::p:

Donnie Darko: Before researching it - 7/10, after researching, 9/10.
I had heard of this movie but never seen it, but I guess while I was at college my sister became a huge fan of the movie and insisted I watched it, so I did. When I watched it through I thought it was good on the surface as a movie, was entertaining without knowing completely about all the time travel stuff. Then I researched the time travel stuff, made the movie even better. Plus it has Mad World in it, so that's a plus.

After watching it a second time (extended edition this time) - 9.5/10
I now understand why my sister watches this on a monthly basis, it is one of those movies that gets better after watching it before.

Tangled - 8/10

Finally a good movie to come out of my "To Watch" lineup of movies. :) Really liked this one. Here I thought it was a Pixar film and I find out it's purely Disney. Superb animation! No really, I'm pretty shocked. It's rare to find a good Disney film anymore without an uber cheesy storyline and just horrible all around. Yeah, it's Rapunzel, but it wasn't like your typical "princess" movie. Didn't really feel like that at all.

I'm going to stop there, I don't want to spoil anything. Oh, but I will say this: I officially want a mini chameleon named Pascal. That is all.

The Change-Up - 5/10

How this movie was written: "Oh, I have a great idea, lets have two guys switch places!"
"Yeah! Wait, but hasn't this been done hundreds of times before? How will we make it so people will see it?"
"Simple, we will make lots of comments about their junk and show as many boobs as possible!"
"You're a genius sir!"
"That's why they pay me the big bucks"

It did have Olivia Wilde in it though, so it does get 5 stars.

Spooner

Living at home in the safe environment of his family, Herman Spooner (Matthew Lillard) enjoys the predictable nature of his life, including his job selling used cars. As his 30th birthday approaches, his parents Dennis (Christopher McDonald) and Alice (Kate Burton) attempt to prepare Herman for the reality that they are about to force upon him by insisting that he move out and find a place of his own. His imminent life change becomes even more stressful when his boss (Shea Wigham) puts pressure on Herman to increase his sales or potentially lose his job. As his existence threatens to unravel, Herman unexpectedly meets Rose (Nora Zehetner), a pretty girl who immediately warms to him and what appears to be a real relationship begins. Herman pushes himself to be more adventurous to woo Rose, but she has a revelation to make which may transform Herman's life forever.

Something about this movie got to me.

7/10

Monsters Vs. Aliens - 2/10

I only got halfway through it and couldn't stand to watch it anymore. It was a Dreamworks film and had a nice lineup for voice actors, so I suspected it would be a good movie. Man, talk about a huge disappointment. :p
