Ouch, that sucks :: Frustrating. But, if you "just" got talking to them, then I guess at least it wasn't anything which has been going on for a long-time, else that would be harder to get over.
Yeah, but it's just reaffirmed the knowledge that everyone gets bored in the end, sometimes it just happens sooner than other times
Pebbs, this is a SA site, people BOOM! vanish all the time... in chat or in chatbox or elsewhere....
Some may have a bad connection or may get interrupted iRL etc. It's better to not take it too personally...

One thing I've learned from life so far, is that with some people, no matter what you do you can never get them to like you. And I dont mean romantically, I mean at all. It's times like that you just have to say "screw you" and move on.

I said that if it wasn't something you said (I was joking a bit with that part), it was probably a problem with them... What Pips says is true - some people are just so different they don't 'click' even if it may seem so at first...
And if that other person was rude, then 'good riddance' or 'not throwing pearls (or witty comments) to... whoever doesn't deserve it'....
And I was serious about the trolls, did you read what Phocas posted? Some people on other forums wanted to troll sites, and this one too... So it's possible that any of them might pretend to be normal people and actually try to mess with people on this site... If you find any iffy behavior, do report it...

Yes, I read it. I also saw that the last post was made in august last year on the forum. Seriously, who on the site has encountered a troll before, apart from the guy the other week who barely stretches to a troll
No, he was just some guy expressing his idiotic views and people screamed to the heavens that a troll was among us
Sometimes random people suddenly start to troll, without them having a trolling history. I've even seen very nice people suddenly resort to trolling in the right circumstances. It's caused by stress or sudden disregard for other people's emotions. It needn't be you.
Don't take negative comments regarding your conversational skills to heart. From the beginning I've been impressed with your ability to light up conversation that seemed without content.
You're a funny, insightful and a sweet person. And if you do happen to make a mistake, then that's not a big deal either. We're all flawed, biased, delusional survival machines made out of flesh and blood. We are, and you are, allowed to make mistakes.

What happened? I assume it's a girl but I'm not going to throw you some stupid "fish in the sea" line. Fish are the most unromantic species ever; they don't even have sex, they literally just shoot eggs and sperm all over the place and hope for the best. (On second thought, I guess we're not that different...)

Well, it was after Phocas posted those links that some of us got a bit more worried... (we were blissfully unaware before) But the mods here are really looking out for any iffy activity anyway... so we're probably safe. I'm just a bit more suspicious of any new members maybe, until they 'prove themselves'...
