Ohai.
Let me start by saying that I'm not sure if I have social anxiety disorder (or something similar) or not. I haven't been to a professional about it, and I know that it's not as bad as it could be. However, I believe that I am more than shy because I'm only anxious in certain situations. There are a lot of things that make me feel anxious or nervous. Some things affect me while others that seem like they would don't at all. It took me until high school to really notice it because I was realizing more and more the times that I felt anxious and how I seemed to alter my behavior to avoid those situations. Enough about that, though. At least for now.
I'm an 18-year-old in Wisconsin. I attend college at the moment, although I'm on winter creak right now. I'm currently an English major. I'm a bit of a nerd. I also game, although not as much as I'd like to due to financial reasons, mostly. I can be very talkative, and I talk very quickly (or so I am often told). Despite this, I still feel very anxious in many social situations. I'm not completely rubbish in all social situations, but there are times when I feel like disappearing into the ground in certain situations. I try to be friendly, but it's difficult for me to make friends. I'm very much an introvert, although I don't avoid all group and "extrovert"-type activities. I like going out, but only to certain places. Oy, I'm getting confusing now.
Anyways, I'm here to talk to people with similar experiences and "problems," as well as talk more easily to people in general (as I'm sure most would agree that talking on the internet is far easier than talking face-to-face when meeting new people). I hope to join in conversation whenever possible and maybe even contribute something useful.
It's nice to meet you all.
