Obsession with time

Can anyone else relate? I'm not sure if this is related to SA... is this normal?

I get alot of anxiety (particularly lately) about timing. For example... I have to be somewhere at 'x' time and have to do something before so I have to try and calculate as close as I can to arrive on time (because it makes me too anxious to be early or too late) then I figure out what time i have to get read/wake up and I always give myself an extra 30 minutes in case of something. I always am ready too early then I sit in anxiety waiting for the perfect time to leave so i am not too early or too late... :/

I've always been a bit obsessive but particularly lately it's worse... I swear I spend the whole freaking day doing numbers in my head and worrying about it

Yes I can certainly relate to this, I have always been a clock watcher ::p:. And pretending not to look at my watch every 5 minutes, and taking sneaky peeks . I wouldn't worry about it I think you will find it is quite common amongst the anxious.

I can definitely relate to not wanting to be somewhere too early or too late. It is always difficult because I don't want to leave too late in case something happens that makes me really late, but I don't want to leave so early that I end up just waiting around where ever I am.

Not only am I obsessed with time in the same way as you but I was a Physics major in University and time had always been one of the topics that just blows my mind. I honestly believe its just a human manifestation and that it doesn't actually physically exist. Willie Nelson said it best, you were always on my mind, but this applies to time for me lol

Sorry you're going through that, outsider, although I am always wanting to get somewhere earlier than later. If I'm pushing it I will curse myself that I've left no wiggle room if something goes wrong (lots of traffic, for example).

Oh very much yes. I have to time everything to make sure its perfect. I feel so much anxiety even if its just slightly off. It's funny because I always seem to know almost exactly what time it is at any given point without a clock (within 5 minutes) - even in the middle of the night! I never need an alarm clock either.

I used to be like that pretty badly too. Being early was the worst possible thing, I didn't want to be in college any more than I had to and being in a class before a lesson began always made me anxious. That made me late a lot, which was even worse and often times caused me to drive all the way to college only to go back home because I was 2 minutes late and didn't want to walk in after people.

My attendance in the last year of school and throughout college was around 40% -_-

So glad I'm not like it at uni, it just caused a snowball of problems for me.

I'm more obsessed with how fast time goes and life passes by and am scared to find myself one day old and feeling like my life has been unfilfilled and wasted.

Surely every human being is like that, aren't they?

Sticking to time thresholds, or just a few people who like to not bother and ignore time, when feeling lazy

I don't know if it's because my ancestry is half German, but I OBSESS over time. I hate being late so much I'd rather be 1/2 hour early and read in my car.

i think that's kind of normal though..even with non SA people... because why would anyone want to be too early or too late? :p
Maybe we SA peeps worry think about it too much and stress over it..while non SAs just think about once and then they just try their best to get there on time

This world goes by too fast! When I obsess about time I find it goes too slow. Then when I look away and don't care it's like BOOM it's already 3 in the morning. That's why I try to stay away from clocks.

I have a bit of an obsession about being late, which means I'm always early for things. I honestly can't remember the last time I was late for anything because I always feel I have to allow way more time than is actually necessary to get ready for anything, or to go anywhere. I suppose it's one of my OCD traits that actually has a sort of up-side to it, although it can be uncomfortable when I'm particularly early for something and have to try and fill time without looking conspicuous or drawing attention to myself.

haha yes. And sweet Jesus if there's more than one apt in a day....I'll be awake at 4:30am stressing about co-ordinating the two  even if they're 12 hours apart
