lost my job today

Actually my last day is Monday, but was told it would be my last day today. It wasn't a personal reason, the company I work for just doesn't have anything for me to do anymore.I really liked my job and am dreading finding/working somewhere else. Not to mention my routine will be severely messed up, which will take time to get used to.
Anyway I am just bummed and wanted to tell someone. ::

Thank you I think I will try to get my dental observation hours in, I need them to get into the dental hygiene school I want to go to. Will just have to get over the anxiety to go around asking places if they will let me observe there.:/

As Kiwong mentioned, maybe it will help to keep busy in the meantime, so you don't have lots of spare time to start thinking up negative thoughts about the process of finding a new job or study. What you said about getting those hours of dental obs. sounds like a great idea.

Goodluck with finding some places who will let you do the obs.
Just tell yourself you only have to do a few minutes of asking, then the hard part is over.

Hey closet, I am really sorry. Hope you you find a new job really quick, and that it should be even better than the last one. In the mean time though you will have plenty of time to spend with us! Make sure you fight for all your benefits and whatever else they are required to give you. Do your research, and try very hard to FIGHT for your rights. Remember that you DESERVE them!

Best of luck in your job search, closetnerd. Sounds like you've got a plan in place though. I know the pain of losing a job, as I lost two within 2 years, and have been looking ever since. My last job was a layoff similar to yours, it sounds like. And though it's not much of a consolation, for me it's nice to know it was through no fault of mine that i was let go. The state of the economy today doesn't make things much easier. Again, it can encourage you that many people are out of work like yourself, but discourage as well(I know for me it does). At least it gives you time to figure out what you want to do and have time to do it.
