The convenient part of stereotypes is that they are so often true.

I just had to laugh at the image of the dented pick-up and the gun-rack, and then you wonder why people think you are a redneck.

You have a choice: Confirm to other people's standards, or ignore theirs.

Tell your wife's friends you enjoy shooting animals while chewing tobacco. ;)

Just kidding. Ignore them. It sounds like nothing you can do is going to change their minds so the less energy you expend trying to do exactly that, the better.

Stereotypes aren't always clear cut.

You don't have to be dumb to be a redneck. When most people think of redneck, they have certain things they think of, and when they see a dented pickup w/ a gun rack you will immediately be stereotyped as a giant redneck.

It doesn't even matter where you live if you have a vehicle that has those qualities.

And you have a skoal ring in your pocket? Sorry, but most people see these things and think redneck. That's just the way the world works.

Just yesterday a guy saw me in sweatpants and a heavy 5 o'clock shadow and called me homeless. Am I homeless, no. But I see why he called me that.

People stereotype, it's what they do.

The problem with many people who have SA is that we are afraid of being different. It's something we need to work on, is wearing the different label.

I walked into a busy bar by myself on Friday night. I may have been the only loner in that bar, but I wore it, and I fit in. I was so proud that I had the guts to walk in there sober and know that I would look weird walking in there alone.

The secret is to stop caring what other people think of you. It's the caring what others think of us that gives us the SA problems.

I still have work to do, but I've improved with that dramatically.

lolol...that was a funny post. I wanted to be spontaneous but i am so tired. Now i just want to write rubbish, gibberish just to impress others. Blah blah....blah!

Cause and effect. My mom keeps scolding me for not so big mistakes. Dad isn't too happy with me either. I wondered why..! Then i sat to meditate and it all became clear. I did not live up to their expectations nor am i helping them any way at home. Eating their food and ranting at this page with their internet connection doesn't go too well....not that they tell me, but the negative vibes do have a meaning.

Went out and bought banana's for 10 rupees(indian currency) less...did little house chores, took relatives here and there , and the people around don't seem too mad with me. Nor do i hate them anymore like before when i didn't know why they were upset with me. Rant rant..!!

Bro was not so happy talking to me. We both gave each other bad times. Now i take him to the bus stop saving his 30-40 bucks and he is happy with me. Rant rant..!

Used to feel sick when Dad was drunk. As he seldom kept his mouth shut. Then i meditated and it became clear i cannot change others. I ask him if his day was long...and snap comes the reply, yes son' i am stressed'. Now i sometimes just sit and listen to him not judging. Blah blah...!

Life has become easier and simpler.....i meditate to make things easier. Or i would have ranted more. Thank you for listening.
