Job interviews

I've got a job interview tomorrow. It's for the position of a truck driver helper (a very SA-friendly job), so it's not one that particularly requires good communication skills. I'm not overly nervous, as I'm quite sure that they won't particularly be probing me about/for my verbal communication skills, or lack thereof.

My question is, how do you folks with SA/D get jobs? Do you go to so many interviews that eventually you perform half-decently during one, or did you get a job even though you were fairly anxious during the interview (and the interviewer just didn't seem to care for whatever reason)?

I submit my cover letter and resume electronically. It seems to be the preferred route for a lot of employers too, not just for socially anxious people who don't want to hand them in in-person. Regardless, it is a lot more convenient: having submitted more than one hundred resumes electronically, I would have otherwise had to do a lot of driving around town.

i rely on something i was taught in the US Marine Corps

it's called "military bearing"

you can be scared all you want on the inside

as long as you don't let it show on the outside

there's always time to vomit later in private

I have never had a job. Only have had 2 interviews in my whole life and those were a few months ago. I was absolutely dreading my first one lol. My second one was a bit better, but still didn't get the job hmm. I tell you something that did scare me though in the 2nd one, was when i was waiting for the interviewee and the door opened I saw 2 people :O I was like OMG Im totally gonna f up now, I was anxious about the interviewer and now you tell me there will be 2 of you sitting here! I did better than I thought anyway, and didn't f up as much as I thought I would lol. Still, no job though.

I only get a job if it's given to me on the spot.
I've done hundreds of interviews and have never gotten a job based off the interview.

Somehow- interviews are 10000000x more stressful than auditions.

Well kudos to you for at least getting an interview anyway. I'm afraid to even apply for jobs. I've worked in a store for seven years and the only reason I've had this job so long is my fear of finding a new one. I dread having to talk on the phone with a potential employer. I dread being put on the spot in an interview. I dread having to find references. I just expect to fail and that's enough to avoid the issue altogether.::(:

This is me altogether. Same job for 6 years because I'm scared of the whole process. Took the thoughts from my brain.

I get into actress mode and pretend to be a really perky, friendly person who has nothing but enthusiasm. Doesn't always work though.

Had a job interview today, went pretty good at the beginning, but when the interviewer started asking questions that I wasn't really comfortable with, it started to feel like my first job interview again, my heart started beating too fast, had a hard time trying to catch my breath, which caused me to stutter and I just couldn't express myself better, and in the end, I was one of those applicants who were sent home early.

Funny thing is, I did a lot better on my job interview 3 years ago, and the interviewers back then were a lot more intimidating, just when I thought that I got over with my problems with my confidence and communication skills, I get pulled right back in.

Damn! Got any other job interviews lined up? I feel like I'd be a lot more confident going into one now that I just did one two days ago. You know what to expect.

I actually did quite well on my interview. I'd grade it a B+, which was enough for me to get the job! I've now had two job interviews in my life and both ultimately led to my hiring, so maybe I don't do as poorly on them as I expect to do beforehand. This time around I took some propranolol beforehand, which definitely helped, especially when I was asked a tricky question that took some thinking (I probably would have otherwise blanked out).

Well first job I had I was appointed by a friend of my mother, second by a friends of my father, third by a friend of my japanese teacher,I never got a job that I went for the interview by myself, not knowing anybody ,which I did a lot,I guess they prefer to hire from people they know,to do favours or work on their status with their friends.
